I found reason just recently to block another participant here on this forum. While I have mixed feelings about doing it, I think it is progress for me in setting limits and trusting my own judgment. I've read where others talked about blocking others, but haven't thought I had a reason to do it. I am sympathetic to them now even if my reasons are different from theirs. They, like me, deserve to have the people here they are interested in interacting with.

must admit that i've blocked more than a few. i don't mind being corrected or told that i'm wrong; but some ppl just have a knack for projecting their self-hatred on to others & i don't have the time or patience to deal with them.

I can understand why we need a block feature, and why some people feel the need to use it. Personally I seem to have been fortunate and have not needed to use it so far, though I have been blocked once I think, by someone after I told him he was boring. You would think that he would have been grateful for the advice. After all several people have told me that I am the expert on boring.

Haven't blocked anyone yet, but I'm a big hairy guy, so I'm unlikely to get rape threats or dick pics.

I have never blocked anyone, preferring to ignore posts by certain people. I do believe that I have been blocked by a few others though, one that I definitely know of. Strangely, it only seems to be youngish men with misogynist or right wing views who take issue with me!

Oh dash, I can't do the young bit.

I havent blocked anyone except a scammer but I keep getting blocked by elderly men for disagreeing with them when they post misogynistic crap. Green atheist and Robecology are the most recent.

It's kinda funny because most of you think I'm new here or don't recognize me because I don't post all that much but a post defending other women gets me blocked by the fragile egos of men who still haven't figured out why they can't find someone.

I've blocked scammers and a couple of others for being very ugly in their comments. GreenAtheist blocked me and I don't even know why as I have never (to my knowledge) had a conversation with him. He sent me a PM and before I had the chance to respond to it, I was blocked. I guess it will remain a mystery.

@LizBeth I remember telling green atheist that I disagreed with part of a post he made. I wasn't nasty but I guess he felt strongly about it lol

LOL, I guess he did!

I think did right. I like to debate but if someone starts being rude or call me names that's it.

I have never blocked anyone for having an opposing opinion. I have used it if someone directs words at me that make me feel threatened or if they are just too block headed to take "get lost" for an answer.

Yes, you do! I blocked someone who has been reported twice for sending unsolicited dick picks. I consider it a vaccine against an idiot disrespecting me.

Wow! That would be awful. I like your vaccine analogy.

I don’t block anyone. I figure if you’re dumb enough to spout off stupid crap, you deserve to get slapped down for it. And I’m more than happy to deliver the slap down.

It was a good step in the right direction for me to block them. Slapping them down is still a ways down tne road - and I may never get there. Lots of possible reasons for it, and I'm working on it.

@RussRAB

You just need to stop giving a shit what dumb fucks say about you. Both online and in real life.

I’ve been called everything from a snowflake wussy to a pedophile and everything in between online and sometimes in real life. I’ve had losers with nothing better to do research my personal life and attempt to embarrass me online.

When you finally figure out that people resort to personal attacks because they either have nothing of significance to offer the group or cannot logically rebut a point in a discussion, everything they say is like it’s coming out of the mouth of the village idiot. Because it is.

@webbew1 - Believe it or not, I'm doing better that way also, but it isn't all there yet. I believe my fear has as much to do with appearing as the village idiot as much as dealing with one.

I only block jerks, not conflicted at all. Opinions are welcome, insults aren't.
