I struggle with insomnia. Sometimes going to sleep is the issue and sometimes staying asleep.

How many of you suffer from this? I also have tinnitus which adds to it some.

I’ve been having sleep issues for the last couple of months, and it’s terrible. I cannot fall asleep properly, and it usually takes me around 30 minutes to an hour to finally fall asleep, and then I wake up earlier than I should. This kind of sleep doesn’t help me get enough rest, and I am always sleepy.
Sleeping pills don’t help well enough because they cause me to fall asleep mechanically and do not help me feel well-rested in the morning. Recently I read a dodow sleep aid review, and now I want to try this device. Not sure whether it will help, but there are some good reviews online. Hope it will help me feel better

I usually have no trouble falling asleep. But staying asleep is a different story. I wake up to pee, then can’t get back to sleep due t least in part to the summer heat. The AC is on, but I’m overheated - it must be some great dreams!

I have always had trouble falling asleep and these days, my mind wanders into what a crappy time this is when I wake up at night. I've found that imagining performing a simple task can be a good distraction from that. And I occasionally resort to zopiclone, with the only negative result being some very strange dreams following a few nights' use.

I am having a 2nd sleep study done to find out what my issue is... with meds/OTC sleeping pills I can fall asleep but nothing helps me stay asleep... I feel like I just have brief back to back naps all week and then sleep most of the day on weekends heh

I wake up every couple hours. I also have tinnitus and sleep with my tv on to "drown" it out.

If I sleep without the tv, the sound of a million crickets drives me insane

I used to have insomnia some nights. I started listening to NPR when I went to bed. It often put me right to sleep and if I couldn't sleep, then at lest I learned things.

I noticed that insomnia came whe I didn't get as much exercise. Being active helps me sleep better.

I have issues with insomnia brought on by anxiety and all of this goes into laying in bed aware of things still in my mind. Some of it is exaggerated by a dream state. Doctors want to give you a drug that knocks you out at bedtime but I could not have this. I have to be aware of what is going on. I see films of real events where you are asleep while someone is in your house. I live alone so I would be aware of this quickly. I hear everything even outside.

What helps a lot is to not have the TV on as yo lay in bed, and you might have an hour of gentle music playing real low in the background, then shut off on it's own. They do have "sleep music" for this. I think I only woke up 3 times last night, and I have discovered that if you wake up every 2 hours you will have daytime sleep issues also. A good night's sleep is essential.

I had a bout with insomnia a few years back. Visualization and relaxation exercises put a hailt to it in about a week. By day seven I was falling asleep and staying that way for a good seven hours all on my own.
