Wouldn’t it be wonderful if could eliminate all of the god worshipping from all of the physical places of worship throughout the country. We could then convert them to physical gathering places for purposes such as this. Church without the gods could be very refreshing.

I do not care if people believe in an invisible Superman because he keeps a lot of bad evil nut jobs from doing a lot of bad evil things . The only thing I am against is bullshit churches getting away with paying taxes

You mean without paying taxes? Yes I agree but unfortunately I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

@Trajan61 that’s what I meant thanks

Retrieving the land would be good. However there are a lot of bad people who are only good because they're being watched...i say ler them keep religion for the greater good.

we have some called bars

and sporting arenas

Bars and strip clubs are definitely more refreshing than churches.

Yeah, Humanist Community Centre.

I think it is common for the human psyche to desire unity. The religions around the world want total conversion and with it, power. I also want this but not to a belief set in stone. It should be a belief that can change and applies the scientific method as a check and balance system.

You can always join FFRF.org they usually have meet ups in your local chapters and they do a lot of good stuff keeping religion in check!

Thank you. I went to the website and applied for a free trial membership. 🙂

@BestWithoutGods Yay! I hope you enjoy your membership as much as I do 😊

@Larry-new I couldn't agree more!!!

Many think that Christian fellowship is what modern religion is all about. They are wrong. It is all about the fellowship and not the invisible sky man.

...the buildings are being privately sold here in Penna.;
some Catholic facilities do not have the patronage to stay
open.

Just because I don’t need to go to church doesn’t mean I want to take that away from others. You do you. I’ll do me.

They want to own business and earn income from them, then they should pay taxes on all income they receive.

i have a better idea, make them all pay taxes

We cannot get rid of it any time soon (for at least 75 to 100 years) because religion is a much powerful force and motivator that makes you do things. Organized religion is a 2,000 year old disease. The majority of religious but moderate people will not take any action. The conservative religious people will fight in every cornet and every inch to not lose their power and intrusion. Millions are making a living on religion. There is a huge government funding that goes to religion and they make the government bend to their will. Why would they not fight?

1

no, why would we want to do that? i have better things to do. who needs church at all? why would we want to gather these people together anywhere? what would they do? make a god, probably. no, let them stay in their churches and stay off the streets (and out of our legislatures, executive houses and courts).

Here's a conundrum; since a church is a place of worship, if you remove god then is it still a church? Remove god, yes, and convert them into homeless shelters. but rebrand them as something other than a church.

6

Welcome to the asylum. Enjoy your stay.

Personally, I'd prefer to see them all turned into housing for the homeless.

In San Antonio they are building affordable housing in a one time church and it's complex. They have also built a 20 acre complex for the homeless, which includes counseling, recreation, and housing facilities. this is a city that is 65% hispanic. Why can't white people figure this shit out?

@Sticks48 Mostly because most of them don't want to.

,,,a millionaire purchased a "convent COMPLEX" to
develope up scale dining and accommodations. This is
how the "real estate" game is played. Local YMCA-
recently broke agreement with the city to temporarily house
homeless for EMERGENCY FREEZE temps.....

Yes. I have often thought that an atheist/agnostic "church" would be a good idea, attracting perhaps those who wouldn't venture onto a website like this, and providing community space to be enjoyed by all comers.

@Larry-new When I Googled AUU Church this is what came up:

Is this the one you meant?
