Franklin Graham's booking cancelled

Hopefully the rest of his tour will be cancelled. We don't want your extremists over here. We have enough of our own.

This is a great step. The Brits have also prohibited FOX news and the like from their airwaves. They know propaganda when they hear it.

Serves him right. Karma.

Franklin Graham is indeed an extremist. I think he is radical and makes no sense at all.

Good for that venue. This hypocrite should be stoned so that he can go to his heaven really soon, and should thank the people throwing rocks because they are giving him the gift of heaven.

We don't want him either. Is there a forever home for nutjobs!

Anyone who states "I am in favour of free speech, but ... " is NOT in favour of free speech.

The poster did not address free speach issues. Standing up for free speech and not wanting to hear the garbage are two seperate issues.

I put my life on the line so these idiots can say what they wish. I kinda like it that way so I know where they stand. I do not want to hear their garbage.

Okay, let's look at this another way. Graham was booked into large private/municipal venues. They are often a partnership between the city and a private company. He was NOT booked into a church. If it is okay for a baker to refuse to bake a cake for a gay couple? Then it must be okay for a venue to say "No thank you, we do not want your business". This is not a question of free speech, it is a question of "not on my dime".

I think what he espouses could be considered hate speech which is illegal. At least in the UK it is.

@OwlInASack I understand your setiment. If we don't atand up for free speech in the United States agnostics and atheist would not have a viice and would be discrinated agaist with no recourse. That is what I am concerned about.

Good news! You could tell them if they come you will sic Nessie on them. When we were there it was a 'shy' day for Nessie. lol

She is lying low these days, even the visit of the pope a few years ago didn't attract her.

@Moravian Maybe she is a he. And in our area we are still looking for the shy "Big Foot." Inverness was a neat city when we visited it. We were on our way to Apple Cross vie the fun (not) pass of the cattle.

@JackPedigo Great photo. Judging by the model of car this was a few years ago ?. I have traversed the Beallach na Ba by car and motorbike . Cycle next if I can summon the energy.

@Moravian It was 1989. My then partner graduated from a university in Europe and her parents came to visit. We took a ferry from Amsterdam to Hull and then the 4 of us made our way to AppleCross in my little Honda Civic hatchback. I got so tired of those Scottish, one-lane roads with two way traffic the pull overs, and sheep in the middle of the road. She was of the MacRae clan (of course we had to look up the family tartan). Her family had alcoholism in their genes and Apple Cross was where the great, great grandfather came from and who immigrated to the US. When we got to Apple Cross we went into the bar/hotel/restaurant (lots of combined buildings) and asked if there were any MacRaes left. We were told one and he was the town drunk. The family got a good laugh out of that one. The cemetery was full of MacRaes and Gordons (apparently they were a feuding family). Later a sister married a Gordon (and it didn't last long). Later we visited the Eilean Donan castle and learned of the MacRae family connection (one Farquahr MacRae - [clan-macrae.org.uk] to this place. It was a great trip.

@JackPedigo A great story. Sometimes looking at your ancestry may be a disappointment;
The Applecross inn is famous for it's food and always busy.
The Bealach na ba is now of what is called the "The north west 500" A circular route starting and finishing at Inverness and taking in the north west and north coast roads, Much of it still on narrow and single track roads,
It has increased tourism but unfortunately attracts petrol heads in high powered cars trying to beat the recoed for the route.
I attended a wedding at Applecross a few years ago camping at the site there overnight.
My battered Subaru was surrounded by Porsche sports cars. The drivers "doing the 500". An incongruous sight in the remote highlands.

@Moravian Seems a lot has changed since we were there. We did take the beach road back to avoid the mountain road. It was only marginally better. Applecross must be seen as a sort of Mecca now and probably is doing better financially. I still remember the building where family records were kept was also the gas station and the general store was the post office. Small town.

Maybe he can take this as a sign?

Fuck him. I wouldn't want him here in Ireland either.

With a gay P.M. that would be interesting!

@Marionville The image of VP Pence and his wife standing beside Leo Varadker and his partner looking very uncomfortable was classic.

@Moravian yes...indeed!
