The White Backlash of America
How many of us really disagree that Trump's victory in 2016 was not a product of the American White Backlash in the countryside?

We have heard Many Reasons for Trump's victory
What we have been told so far about why Trump won:

  1. Hillary was a horrible candidate,
  2. Hillary took winning for granted and ignored states in the North East that Trump won
  3. Voters were turned off because of Hillary and switched to Trump
  4. There were serious efforts by Republicans to restrict minority voting
  5. Russia alone got Trump elected with DNC hacking, fake news and social media manipulation
  6. Social media caused the confusion, misinformation and had a big hand in how Trump getting elected

But wait ! The history is not done yet with what happened
After all the analysis is done of what happened, I believe we will be told in no uncertain terms that the silent majority of white Americans in the countryside rose after 8 years of the black president called Obama.

So this begs the questions

  1. What will happen when the Democrats are toying with ultra progressive and very far left ideas for the highest office in land by nominating either a gay or Jewish candidate?
  2. What will the silent majority in the mainland tell us?
  3. Will that be another lesson for us to analyze for the decades to come?
  4. Do we really understand how profound the psyche is of the American voters?
  5. Are we really ready to take chances with losing presidency that can change the fabric of what good has been accomplished so far... for ever?

Oh, yes. America is a religious country
We think America is ready for a Jewish, Gay, or an atheist president, but do not forget that the United States is a very conservative nation, a religious nation. Generally, a deviation is allowed but extreme positions and candidates against religion will NOT be tolerated.

You don't think it had anything to do with Trump bashing the corrupt establishment, calling out the biased corporate media, and promising to bring back jobs to economically regressive regions of the country?

I do not. Else I would have included in the poll and the post content.

The poll results so far. The large majority thinks, yes, there was a white backlash and it will happen again.

  1. No, There Was No White Backlash Against A Black President............... 7%
  2. Yes, It Is True That The White American In The Heartland Came Out For Trump But There Was No White Backlash................... 7%
  3. No, There Was No White Backlash............ 7%
  4. No There Was No White Backlash And No, White American Votes In The Heartland Did Not Help Trump Win............ 3%
  5. Yes, There Was A White Backlash And It Will Happen Again With A Gay, Non-Christian Candidate For President........... 55%
  6. No, It Is All About The Ideas, Vision And Candidate Competency............. 7%
  7. None Of This Is True........... 14%

This means Bernie Sanders is a very bad idea.

A poll of 29 people is hardly conclusive. And how does it prove that Bernie is a bad idea? There was a white backlash following a black president, what does that have to do with the old white guy who is the current front runner?

Do you think that Obama was a bad idea because of the backlash that he inspired? Should we just never elect diverse candidates because the reactionaries might react?

@RoboGraham Do you know what sample data is? No matter how small, it indicates a trend, a thinking. The responders were not chosen. It was at random. What you are demonstrating, is that you will deny even a crushing defeat of Bernie and would continue saying he is the greatest candidate of all times. Where is the damage to the nation going to stop?

@St-Sinner I haven't seen any crushing defeats. Only wins.

The smaller the sample, the less reliable the poll.

@St-Sinner It really doesn't even matter about the accuracy of the poll. The point is that it doesn't verify the conclusion you are trying to draw.

Yes there was a white backlash after a black president. How does that pertain to the old white guy you are attempting to criticize?

I'll ask you again, Do you think that Obama was a bad idea because of the backlash that he inspired? Should we just never elect diverse candidates for fear that the reactionaries might react?

1

It had nothing to do with "white backlash" in the sense Obama was president.
There WAS a backlash against pro-Muslim immigration, however.
There was also a backlash against Obama policies concerning the so-called 'Arab Spring.'
These might be tied indirectly to his blackness and his name (which does sound Muslim).
Sounds sophmoric, but that's hardly surprising given the voters we're talking about!
There's no denying it'd be ill-advised to nominate an openly gay or atheist candidate. I emphasize "openly."
Jewish? Probably be also risky, to a lesser, but significant, degree.

as much as I would like to disagree with this.... trump seems to enjoy riling up his majority white base with talk of evil "brown others".

1

There were a number of factors, but racism was a big part of it. During the Obama years, the media was walk-to-wall hate toward the Obamas, and toward all "liberals". Hating liberals became synonymous with loving your country.

Trumpists came to believe that "liberals" were stealing their country. And everything they felt they had "lost" they blamed on liberals, whom they thought had stolen everything and given iy to the Blacks, the gays, and the "illegals".

There was no logic involved. It was manufactured furor. And it all began with white racism.

The white card was played, granted but the real issue is that neither party has represented We the People for a long time now. Young people who would normally be expected to vote Democrat were so disgusted by the co-opting of the democratic process by the DNC that they just stayed home and that was all the difference. Miserable, bitter, old farts with religion in their hearts because they are afraid of the supposed hereafter because of the miserable, bitter lives they have lived are going to vote Trump because he appeals to their misery and bitterness, the young people are where the votes are but the DNC is either too stupid or too corrupt to realize it.

Hillary got the most votes nationwide by nearly 3 million. The "horrible candidate". The Mueller Report concluded Russia helped the Trump campaign and Trump covered it up. White backlash or did someone cheat to get the outcome and the asshat we now have in the White House?

I read by over two million , eight hundred thousand votes , for Clinton , who was placed on trial ( accidental timing ? ? ) , at the time , so wasn't able to spend a lot of time stomping thorugh the voter's areas . Part of Trump's plan ? Power and money can accomplish a lot .

@Cast1es No trial. Just accusations. After the election? No trial, no charges...nothing. Same thing Trump was trying to set up with Biden. Accusations that would last throughout the election. Doesn't have to be anything to it. Just something to accuse Biden of, where no crime is committed.Trump? Crimes all over the place. The Republicans have sold America down the river to make a president above the law. A national disgrace.

4

I don't believe it had anything to do with a "white backlash". I think that there's plenty of white racism in America and that it played a significant part to Trump's numbers, but Clinton got more votes than Trump, so in a "fair" election, she would have won. So unless you're saying that the creators of the electorial college created it to facilitate a white backlash in case a woman has a chance at getting elected 200+ years later, I'd have to disagree.

The election was stolen with the illegal help of a foreign government.

I see Bernie as your only hope.

Most people think it is a nightmare on hand.

Bernie has galvanized the younger voters...they will get out and vote. I expect Putin will be developing targeted attacks to try and flip them...but they are expecting it this time...trump can't win without the Cambridge Analytica brainwashing

1

About 25% of voters voted for the Con Man 25% for reason (Hrc) the remaining 50% said volumes by not voting they like me are tired of picking between the lesser evil. #bernie 2020 the only candidate the right and left Plus the corporate warlords equally hate....that is his best selling point!

In all honesty, I can think of very, very few things that are more importaint than picking the lesser of 2 evils.

Evil gets shit done.

@1of5 ??? Anger gets shit done. Evil grows more evil! Time for new.

@Logicforme ever seen an evil person who isn't angry? And if evil grows more evil, shouldn't having the lesser evil in power be even more importaint?

@1of5 lol TY I needed a chuckle. I want a third and fourth party system so non-conformists like me have a candidate in the race. America is for all its citizens not just those corporate CEO’s and their puppets they purchase on capital hill. So the DNC can have their chosen puppet (Republican lite version) like the past 3 decades. Meanwhile i and others like me can run our choice in all 50 states freely without ridiculous rules determined by a competitor (DNC). Green Party is goofy and the libertarians are wacko as well.

@Logicforme we desperately need a 3rd party, if not a 4th and 5th. Viable, workable parties.

And a constitutional convention.

@1of5 agree but not with our current Congress. We desperately need reform in DC. Congress should be required to wear their donor names on their robes so we the people know who they work for. But seriously citizen united MUSt be over thrown

The backlash certainly happened. The racists mobilized and voted for the most blatant rascist canidate, who at the time hadn't let them down - Obama happened on those other guys watch. Add in mysogony, a dem canidate that had 25 mother fucking years of demonization by the right wing news machine (seriously, the fuck were they thinking?), an electorate that's sick of politics as usual and basically apathetic, and outside interferance and you get the shitstorm we have now.

The next one isn't going to be racial, but religion based prejudice. Bernie a Jew who's actually an athiest, how can you trust him? (paraphrasing, but yeah, I did actually read that article today). Pete's gay and that just ain't biblical, no further explanation needed.

I fucking hate politics.

1of5 Level 8 Feb 12, 2020

You hate it but there is a lot of ugly bare truth in what you said.

Please be active and write more often to save our Democracy and prevent hijacking of the Democratic Party by Far Left extremists.

@St-Sinner yeah, that's why I hate it so much. Beats a monarchy or dictatorship hands down, but damn is it ever a fuckton of work. No wonder another term for voting is suffrage.

if I got 3 wishes today, one would be that Bernie form a viable far left party. There are so many different ways to do things that one party can't do them all - hence the congested clusterfuck we get as primaries and gridlock in the legislative proccess. Life isn't binary choices, why should our political system be?

Let the dems and repubs fight it out for the center and the loser of that will get the right wingers.

3

there is no far left in the democratic party. what the republicans are calling far left is normal democratic stuff that most americans want and need. calling it far left makes it sound scary. i am terrified i might get health care and have an educated populace.

by the way, it wasn't trump's victory. it was putin's.

g

You get it!!

@Logicforme Lol i do try 😊

Sanders getting the nomination will bring more chumpers out of the woodwork. If everyone that doesn’t like Trump doesn’t vote and vote for one nominee, we’ll have four more years of hell 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

A beautiful actress went to George Bernard Shaw and said let us get married. Our child will be so intelligent like you an good looking like me.

Shaw said, but dear what if the reverse comes true?

Maybe, and maybe it will excite the 50% of the voters who stayed home in 2016. Bernie wins by a HUGE landslide vote that no electoral college can deny. That is how I see it!

2

I'm not sure what the Democratic Party is thinking. The candidates they have put forth do not offer a viable alternative to President Trump. President Trump is now, a known value. I'm not willing to vote for an unknown disaster to replace a known, and now predictable disaster. Trump will win reelection.

All correct and thank you.

Please be active and write more often to save our Democracy and prevent hijacking of the Democratic Party by Far Left extremists.

@maturin1919
Yep. I picked what I thought was the lesser of two evils. I still think I chose the better alternative.

@maturin1919
I'd say... no. Someone with a centrist track record, a veteran, and an individual who could pass a standard military top secret security clearance background check would at least be partically vetted.

@maturin1919
Between Trump & Hillary Clinton, it was obvious to me. But then, I'm a Boomer, Veteran and member of the GOP.

@maturin1919
Yep.... but, he didn't leave people behind to die. And later said; "What does it matter now?". I've long felt that any POTUS should have an active duty military background. Again, I feel Trump was the lesser of two evils.

@maturin1919 I love you. You point is beyond valid. A vet defending a pussy who hid behind daddy’s money and then thinks that same pussy is a strong hero?!? Dementia setting in there guy?!? WTH?!?

@bigpawbullets neither did hillary. lying about her is foul. she didn't do that and she didn't say that. the embassy was attacked. no one was near enough to help. hillary didn't ask anyone to stand down (nor would it have been her job to do so). as for the "what does it matter" bit, that was in response to insistant nagging about whether the videotape was responsible for the attack or whether it was unrelated to the video. what DID that detail matter at the time it was asked? everyone quotes her as if she is saying the death of her friend, chris stevens, and the others, didn't matter. that is foul deception. shame on you.

g

@maturin1919
Possibly. As the POTUS is simply a figurehead. But a background in military and/or corporate experience, plus a think knowledge of how Washington works seems the best background.....

@genessa
We've different mythologies of history.
I respect your right to your view.

@bigpawbullets mine is not mythology. i watched all 11 hours of testimony. i know what she said.

g

It was an anti-elitist backlash. A large swath of middle america was and is tired of being marginalized, called bigoted, racist and misogynistic. Most Americans are fair minded people. Now, as despicable as Trump's character is, he's proven capable. The American people will not derail the successful path we're on.

@K9Kohle789
Vote your conscious. It's the best any of us can do.

@genessa
If you think either party is telling the truth.... then you're very naive. 😆

@bigpawbullets Parties are not people and their members do not all say the same things. I know liars when i hear them, and i know ignorance when i hear it. I am many things. Naive is not one of them.

g

@genessa
Party on!

@bigpawbullets No, this is not happy stuff. I am terrified. You wanna party, feel free.

g

@Logicforme
It is pretty funny... <demented laughter>.
I don't consider him a hero by any stretch of even MY demented imagination. Just the better of two extremely poor options.

@genessa
Why, thank you! I'm "partying on" here in Akumal. Celebrating my birthday with a week of sun, sand, snorkeling & blender drinks!!!!
🍹🍹🍹🍹🎂🍹🍹🍹🍹🥳

@bigpawbullets Mine is not until the end of the month. I will be partying my own way, not criticizing your way but mine does not involve imbibing. Good food, good friends, yes.

Many of the old white guard will die. Things are changing.

Not yet.

Counting the days!!!

@Bushshaker Second term he doesn't have to use Pence.

1

Certainly there was a back lash but it is not only about gay, religion or black/white, it has a lot to do with people fears and anger. Anger towards the Democratic party for being so Republican.

I have heard many arguments and reasoning BUT the backlash against the Democratic Party for being so Republican is the very first. I don't believe I will hear it again.

@St-Sinner What you think Hillary is a democrat or Warren is or Biden. They are just sheep in wolf clothing.

@Jolanta hmmm. Who is a real Democrat then?

Love it and valid

@Jolanta They are all neoliberals! RNC DNC two sides one neoliberal coin. Look it up. That’s why we are where we are. We the voters have no idea what neoliberalism is or what it looks like, how then can they fight against it?!?

@Bushshaker What does it matter how someone looks? What should matter is what they do and how they conduct themselves.

@Bushshaker You make it sound like age is always a negative and that is not so. Age brings in a lot of life experience one would hope and it brings in empathy sometimes too. No matter how old one is or how young too, one can always drop dead on the spot or get run over by a bus.

@Bushshaker we all wish for something but often that is just a wish. How about just making the best of what you got, and the best for people in the US would be Bernie even if it would only be for four years. By the way many people who have had a heart attack can function perfectly well.
