Do you regret that your beliefs (or lack thereof) hinder the connection you make with some believers and how they perceive you?

No, and I'm not sure I would expect or want the connection to be absolutely unhindered. It is their beliefs that do the hindering, which means any concessions that would get made would have to be coming from me. No thanks.

No, they would have to take me like I am. But I would have a real hard time being with a believer. Just would not work.

I regret that true believers cannot acknowledge the right of some people to believe differently than they do-- but their hang-ups are not going to affect me. and my choices.

nope, not at all

no

I do not regret it but I do feel it is unfortunate that people will allow what they "believe" to influence their human interactions.

3

That does happen. I just think they are not informed. Everyone has there own opinion. They don't have to like me.

I was just talking about how it seems like a lot of my peers are becoming more religious, and that’s how they are meeting people - through church. But I’m not willing to fake it, or even find some rationalization that makes it feel like I’m not lying by participating in a church community. So, yes, I do feel a loss (whether you call it regret or otherwise), that I do not have that community and thus opportunity to connect with others.

Not in the least

If it does, then they're aren't the kind of people of I want in my life.

3

Hell no.

3

No. Not in the least. I couldn't care less.

Regret? No. But it is difficult to respect someone who's beliefs you find absurd.

2

I don't really want to have a connection with someone who suffer from religious delusions and is unable to think rationally. I could not care less how they perceive me. I am looking to connect with people who share my values.

2

It doesn't bother me how I'm perceived at all.

2

I do regret how they perceive me, but it is the fault of their beliefs not mine. I will never regret my beliefs

2

Nope. 7 billion. I couldn’t care less.

naw..... I do regret that their beliefs do sometimes.

Some time back Larry King was asking Jimmy Carter if his Habitat for Humanity adhered strictly to all local building codes when they built houses for the poor.
Jimmy replied, "We don't pay any attention to building codes".
A startled Larry King asked, "How do you get away with that!".
Jimmy said, "Our standards are much higher than any building codes".

The person who has higher standards is not hindered by lower standards.

Exactly!

I just figure if a person can't accept me for who I am then it is their loss and my good fortune that they keep their distance.

No I don’t regret it or shy away from it. In fact my best friend has totally different thoughts and ideas and beliefs than I do.
That’s what makes it interesting and a great opportunity to learn and gain understanding of where they are coming from. As long as it’s an open dialog with no judgements or condemnation I’m great with it.
I don’t want to miss the chance to learn something or gain a different perspective.
I just consider it mutual respect.
I know sometimes that is difficult for many caught up in organized fundamental religions or belief systems.
I do find that the need to be right stems from immaturity and the feelings of insecurity about themselves.
I find that those with a mindset of total black and white are most difficult.
I just look at it as a missed opportunity.
But I also know that I won’t accepy Being bullied and have no problem with walking away.
