Our headlines read: "People in LA lining up for guns as virus cases increase in California." So I'm curious as to why. Are they going to shoot the virus? Are they expecting the apocalyse?

BTW, one rabbit equals one roll of TP. Two squirrels are needed for one roll.
Fifteen gerbils or any small mammal counts as six.
If you manage to find a bear, that's enough for a village.

A whole roll?! I think you overestimate how much poop rabbit fur can hold. 😛

@bingst It depends on how fast they can run.

"This is the Sheriff."
"Come out of the house with your TP paper in your hand"........."NO, NOT USED"!!!

Putting aside the fact, for a moment, that it only takes a few dozen patrons to create a line at a gun store, the purchase of ammunition and guns (plus waiting period) and toilet paper (of all things) during a pandemic must surely share a meme... one that I'm oblivious to.

Some idiots are always hoping to see the on-ramp to the apocalypse, whether it's there or not..

They're expecting that the supply lines/distribution systems for food and other essentials are insufficient to meet demand, and that demand will shift from retail stores to homes soon enough and they want to protect thier homes from that demand.

That'll be the line from the NRA. I expect it's about half right, with the other half getting guns to go raid others homes.

Just idiots can sometimes elect their own, unfortunately.

They are expecting to have a shoot out at the local store for the last pack of toilet rolls!

Those TP rolls can really run. That's where the shotgun comes in..........

They're probably planning on the worst-case scenario, when there's a breakdown of government services like law enforcement.

Yes but I wonder if a lot more guns is likely to make that more or less likely.

@Cyklone Well... I would think most responsible gun owners are primarily thinking in terms of self-defense. But I also think some folks with guns are just chomping at the bit to put their guns to use. So it could actually cut both ways.

@bingst I'm hunting for TP. They can be dangerous. But they don't move when ya shoot em........

Wasn't that a line from Bill Maher on Friday night too?

I rather think they will either be shooting at toilet paper bandits, or just shoot at anyone who gets near their homes. Let's not forget half this country probably thinks The Walking Dead is a documentary...

Sorry, didn't see Maher. If I duplicated his comment it was accidental. I think the idea of people buying more guns is scarier than the death rate from the virus. And isn't it interesting that your death rate from guns is probably higher than it ever will be from this virus but we see what done about it?

@Cyklone no worries, wasn't accusing you of plagiarism - I've heard something similar to that said by a half dozen people now.

And yes you're right, our gun violence death rate (not counting suicide) is about a thousand a month, car crashes over 3000 a month, etc. etc. so in relative terms not comparable so far. Of course if we just sit back and do nothing probably several million of our oldest and most vulnerable would die of respiratory failure in their bed and that has all those other things beat hands down.

The weird thing about COVID-19 - Americans are freaked out because they can't control it and it's a fairly indiscriminate killer. But somehow they are not afraid of gun violence because they think by buying a gun and getting rid of gun laws they are protecting themselves, and yet they are actually making the problem worse. It's like the period of time when Americans suddenly thought that by driving bigger and higher cars (SUVs) they could be safer in an accident whereas statistics proved they were more vulnerable to accidents and death in those accidents.

@Cyklone All those people who never owned a gun or had time to practice or train? Nah,,,,,,,,no problem....Lets arm em.....Then there's the unemployed and ready to snap anyway.............
Wife beating, crime, robberies all will go up. Drug addiction, alcoholism,,,,,,,,,etc.....
