I've heard that quote differently still! I heard: "The sting of my youth is gordon sumner."

The sting of death is life ... no life, no death.

I would say their main faults which result in a lot of pain and death are

Lack of awareness in a scientifically alert sense. Lack of reasoning power and Lack of logic.

P.S. "The wages of sin is death", or should that be "the wages of stupidity is religion"?

Funny that, as the God Mob appears to be impervious to such stings.

As an aside, I am always amused by the (monu)mental stupidity of "I don't have enough faith to be an atheist".

I think what they're really saying is that they don't have the guts to be an atheist, to let go of all those beliefs they've held dear.

@Cyklone I can go with that.

Exactly. The new owner of a local funeral home that will cremate me in the end told me he didn't have enough faith to not believe. WTF does that mean?

@DenoPenno The faith has to be in Humanity NOT god.

@DenoPenno That means that he is mentally incompetent, aka non compos mentis, aka a nincompoop.

@anglophone
And he's admitted his incompetence. Take away his keys to everything. He hasn't the intelligence to be in charge of anything.

I drink to that.

I wish that ‘the sting of religion is stupidity’ was all there was to it! Stupid people are not normally out trying to punish people for their perceived sins!
When a person of any religion picks it up because they fell empty or lost, it is easy to see how the ‘religion takes them over!’ It really does become their savior...they have a purpose and it is supposed to make them into righteous people, which in their minds seems to happen! They start doing ‘everything’ for the lord! And then they want to point out that people are getting away with ‘stuff’ that is not approved of in their teachings! These people loose their focus on becoming a better person from their religious teachings, and want to postalize and set others straight! And they can get downright nasty about it, heaping shame and even ‘damnation’ on you! It’s a lovely story 👿

"May Odin have mercy upon your immortal soul!"
