Darn it, Sept. 25th. here and I'm still alive and kicking, must have slept through it....LOL.

Impact Earth's Gravity? What does that even mean? Sounds like a perfectly ordinary asteroid, which will miss us. All with a headline designed to induce panic. Not big enough to do much even if it hit us.

Rogue?! Never even met the asteroid, but ya gotta lead with the negative? Maybe you should be relieved by its independence. Surely that's better than being compliant with a legion of other malevolent asteroids, all headed toward our lovely, blue marble. Or maybe I'm just happy because "rogue asteroid" is on my 2020 bingo card.

Impact Earth’s gravity? WTF does that mean?

We're all gonna float.
🤣🤣🤣🤣

@KKGator We all float down here

@chalupacabre I was wondering how long it would take for someone to respond with that.
Thanks for not making me wait long!

We could get revived Jurassic lifeforms to eat them - the one in the picture looked hungry. Nothing like a mile-wide suet pudding to "fill those corners" after the post-steak nap.

Came within 13,000 miles, inside the orbit of geostationary and geosynchronous communications (for the most part) satellites. But it was only about as large as a school bus, so it would've probably burned up in the atmosphere, if it didn't skip off of it. Still, there's another one out there with our name on it ... just a matter of time.

I would feel insulted (very briefly) if a tame asteroid took me down...

I just saw this - ya'all still alive out there?

No. Sorry, I'm dead.

@PondartIncbendog Ah, no worries, I somehow thought it was headed for the eastcoast 😉. We've had enought to trouble us over here.

2

No worries, Bruce Willis in a dirty vest will save us but it may encourage a few doomsday cult members to hide away for a spell.

Hope our maths is correct.

If it's not going to hit this planet, it's just a big tease.
I want the planet-killer, damn it!!!!

He's already in the White House.

We certainly need another huge bottleneck. That is fo sho!

3

It's only a matter of time, but we've already knew that. Well, most of us anyway.

If we humans were intelligent enough to demand united leadership - that, and pathogen outbreaks, would be our focus… If we could deflect an asteroid far enough out, nuclear device, it could save us all.. As is, we’re down here killing each other 😕

Wasn’t there some American giant laser plan, (or nuclear, hopefully not), at some stage? I think Russia have made some noises in the laser direction too.

@girlwithsmiles If we have time either a nuclear standoff explosion or a laser hot spot on the asteroid will deflect it enough. If there is enough time. There was also a proposal to land a craft with thrusters on it to push it out of earths orbit. If there is enough time.
