I wonder how many of those who accused the mask wearer of not having faith own guns for protection? So hypocritical.

By their own logic, purchasing insurance, saving and investing, going to the doctor, taking medicine, and wearing a seatbelt should all be evidence of a lack of faith.

I often take Sunday morning motorcycle jaunts - and inevitably I pass numerous churches with rather full parking lots. The faithful spreaders !

There's also a thing going on around here - in front of many houses - signs that read "Faith over Fear" - whatever the fuck that means !

Church services are super spreader events.....

The irony here is that nearly 1 in 5 (18.5%) of the hospitals in the US is religiously affiliated. If one of these churchgoers contracts a bad case of COVID 19, or any other malady requiring hospitalization, they had better hope that if they are admitted to a religiously-affiliated hospital, the care they receive is not a matter of faith.

I am reminded of a joke about a guy and his family wading through flood water that was up to their knees when a boat came by to save them. They said they would trust in the Lord and to go save someone else. When the flood water was up to their waists, another boat came by, and they sent that boat on as well saying they would trust in the Lord. When the flood water was up to their necks, a helicopter came by and again they sent it on saying they would trust in the Lord. Then the flood water covered their heads and they all drowned. So the family came to the Pearly Gates confused and they ask God why they weren't saved from the flood. God replied, "I sent you 2 boats and a helicopter, what more did you want?"

The fact is that mask wearing is a political issue and not a religious one. In South Korea, over half the confirmed cases of COVID occurred among the membership of one church. The leaders of this church told their members that God would protect them from pestilence. They encouraged no protective wear and demanded they attend regular meetings more than once a week where they were crowded together.

Here in the US, we have seen numerous reports of coronavirus deniers - some of them religious leaders - who later contracted and died from COVID. Your brother's friend was smart. To leave and not return to an environment where irresponsible behavior is promoted was a smart move. Good for her. Any God worthy of any consideration of any kind would certainly not punish her for taking minimum precautions to protect herself. God sent her a mask and she was smart enough to take it up the first time instead of refusing it until it was too late.
