The Two-Party System's Failure Opens Door for Independent Debate
"At a time when voters are thirsting for more choices, it is absurd to keep Libertarian nominee Jo Jorgensen and Green nominee Howie Hawkins off the stage. Wednesday’s Vice Presidential debate should include their respective running mates, Spike Cohen and Angela Walker. Objectively speaking, there are four candidates on enough state ballots to win the election, and the CPD has appointed itself as gatekeeper standing between voters and their choices.
Including third party and independent candidates would also be the surest way to entice non-voters and independents to tune into these important forums for resolving our differences as we move forward together.
If we want to heal and unite a hurting nation, we must first seek to listen, to understand, and to calmly and respectfully debate our differences.
Out of the ashes of last Tuesday’s two-party debate, we hope something of real service to the nation may arise from Thursday’s far more inclusive debate."

Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.Only in America can consumers find dozens of choices for soft drinks, beer, fast food, etc., but only two political parties that are the inevitable winners of all federal elections. Consumer choices for products let people continue to feel they have plenty of choices in their lives, but only two real choices for who gets to rule them in politics. And the corporate media are glad to promote this as they are owned by and serve those who own both political parties.

James Burke makes this exact point in here about a country that would be outraged if there were only two flavors available at Baskin Robbins, but are somehow content for there to only be two viable mainstream political parties. It's in the Q&A somewhere I think. I need to rewatch so I can find it and flag it. His observations at about 1:30.00 in to the end are also spot on.
@WilliamCharles Even public television and C-Span don't give fair or balanced coverage to minor parties. They only allow them to participate in debates shortly before the election, too late to change anything after the voters have been bombarded with months of ads and only heard about the major party candidates in the corporate media. It is the ultimate token gesture of attempting to appear fair and balanced. Even then, they are only allowed to debate with other minor party candidates, never directly against the major party candidates.
