Happy Thanksgiving, y'all! I've found that the less I expect, the more thankful I am. For all the people who have given to me who I will never know about, I am especially thankful. Enjoy the food and the traditions and each other today. Be well and do good always. 🤓

"He/she who expects a lot often appreciates NOTHING, he/she who expects little or nothing oft appreciates everything." - William Anthony, 2018.

You should post that in the Quotes group, it's a good one.

@zeuser It is not merely a quote nor citation it IS an original penned by me.

I can 'celebrate' thanksgiving while acknowledging genocide, slavery, and msitreatment. I am not celebrating thise things. I am quite aware of the re-writing of history by most people in their ignorance.

Not sure that thanks giving is a thing one should celebrate. It is somehow very insensitive to the Native Americans. Maybe it should be changed to something els.

They observe Indigenous People's Day the day after, what most folks call Black Friday. I think these days the holiday is more of a reminder to be personally grateful than it is a celebration of our invasion and genocide of the native American population.

@zeuser Wow, Black Friday, what does it tell you about how they feel about Native Americans. There doesn't seem to be anything positive in that.

I ended up having company, talking and drinking a beer, and I did not eat at all. She was the only one to eat and we had no turkey.

Despite covid I am fortunate to have friends and family that took the time to call and visit me via video. I was also lucky enough to swing an invitation to a friend's house who did all the cooking.I was told not to bring anything so the first time in my whole life I did not contribute one thing other than some flowers for the table. I did bake a persimmon pie though and gave it to a neighbor. We were able to eat outside by his garden so all five of us felt perfectly safe from infection. Something tells me we won't be eating outside at Christmas though.

And since I'm a giver, don't expect jack shit from me! You're welcome.

A good perspective, and thank you.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Happiness does not cause gratefulness, but gratefulness does create happiness 🙂

Nice to see people giving thanks to others who have helped to make a difference in their lives, real and tangible difference. So many people will be bowing their heads today and thanking a sky daddy that doesn't exist and wouldn't give a flying fuck at a rolling donut if he did.

I know. My kids and my ex, who joined me for the meal at my house today, are all atheists. So I gave the blessing. Something like "Jesus Fucking Christ this looks good, let's eat!" LOL

@zeuser
Perfect!

I got a message from a cousin that is somewhat of an outcast. That was food for my heart.

Aw, that is fantastic.
