Is being agnostic more positively correlated with intelligence than being theistic?
It's included in a package I get through PISI, available to PA State employees. It includes eyes as well and the whole package costs me just over $500 per year. Free yearly eye exam and something for glasses every two years. Free dental cleanings and 60 % of most other work, including Xray "bite wing" yearly or bi-yearly. It's better than nothing!
Imo, the MORE you turn away from Religion/Religious Indoctrination the more you become aware and the more you intellectual growth increases exponentially.
However, there are those who seem, imo, to come to a sudden kind of shuddering halt along the way, sadly.
I've posted several studies on this site about how that correlation is true.
I have read some of those posts. To a degree, I think that, as we learn more from such things, then judging by the replies this time, the usual tsunami of modesty, which used to always greet this question when it was asked is fading.
Michael Shermer reported in "How We Believe" that belief in deity decreases with higher levels of education. No doubt, this observation is why a high percentage - like 59% - of conservative Republicans which is the primary party of evangelicals believe higher education is bad for America.
Apparently some still haven’t learned that you need some form of higher education to compete in today’s Globalized economy, be it in vocational / Trade training or college.
And let’s not forget that where Evangeloons come from are among the POOREST STATES in the US, such as Oklahoma, Kentucky, West Virginia, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas and many other Bible Belt states and also have the highest numbers of poverty and unemployment.
Define intelligence.
Almost impossible anyway. But for fun, lets go with these two.
If by intellect you mean, as many do, just mathematical problem solving logic skills, and memory, or the ability to comply with one of the worlds broken education systems, then perhaps, or perhaps not.
If on the other hand you mean, the mind skills that are useful and help yourself and other human beings in the real world. Then 'working' intelligence would probably include not just logic crunching skills, but many traits of character, such as, healthy skepticism, setting high standards of truth, not being satisfied with second grade truth, even if you like it, being prepared to work long and hard at problems etc. then almost certainly the answer is 'yes'.
I like to think so but maybe I'm just more reasonable because I believe it's more reasonable to not believe in magical ppl in the sky.
I think Agnostics from academia are just as dishonest as are the xian professors & profiteers both not that intelligent to embrace and practice 28 centuries of Atheism from Athens Greece to Athens Georgia California and China.... phishing here for kudos to Agnostics of any kind at the expense of ignorant believers is a teen beating up upon kindergartners
