My mom lives in the midwestern US in a state currently hit very hard with COVID cases and deaths. Two ladies who she exercises with (socially distancing, of course) say their pastors are preaching that COVID is god’s will and that to try to avoid spreading it (specifically, wearing masks) or getting the vaccine goes against god. They are telling congregants to prepare to die, if it is asked of them. Currently, folks over 60 YO make up 10% of the state’s cases and 80% of the deaths. Chilling.
Are/how are religious institutions impacting COVID near you?
Gods will = What I want to say to make me look like an important authority figure.
When people try to tell me about "god's will" I turn it around on them.
If god was so all powerful, he could have prevented the technology for vaccines, birth control and abortion. Because he didn't prevent then it must be his will for these things to exist.
When I am told of the commandment to reproduce and replenish the earth, I point out how the earth is replenished, and so god provided birth control and abortion to prevent overpopulation, as we are already destroying the world we live in. So, god must have given use the technology nto to overpopulate and destroy the earth.
Needless to say I have yet to have any Christians challenge me a second time
Who the fuck cares? The less religious brainwashed imbeciles in this world, the better for mankind.
She should tell her mom to stay away from those idiots.
@BufftonBeotch I think the more interesting interaction will be between these friends who respect COVID and their bible thumping husbands. My mom shelters in place fairly well. If these ladies worry her, she will cut contact.
What bullshit! I suppose your mom's friends don't wash their hands, or wear seatbelts, or look before crossing the street — because it's god's will. The charlatans are stacking up, every one wants to get in on this death cult frenzy.
It's always God's will when anything goes to shit. Why is it never God's will that it rain money or spontaneously heal ppl of chronic disease?
Trump’s egotistical lack of response to covid, emboldened the religious mind.
Very likely. I was trying to figure where the gain was for the pastor. Financial? Or simple power trip commanding people to die? Sadly, I can see it being the latter. The death of congregants could lead to a reduction in money. Pretty dark, regardless.
I should not be shocked either, but I guess it’s because it seems more real, rather than mere hear say this time... It seems very “Jim Jones” to me, esp following the news out of AZ where a congressman asked if people are ready to die for 45. We should strongly question being asked to die for ANYONE! I don’t understand why they refuse to see it...
Their pastors are ignorant delusional dangerous wretches.
The Land of the Convict seems to have slightly fewer religitards in its pulpits with consequently fewer Covid-19 cases.
With sadly, the exception of the religiotard in Charge atm.
I.e. imo, Aunty Bum-licking ScumMO who, imo, is sadly mourning the loss of his Bum-Buddy, tRump.
@Triphid Ah yes, Mr "Coal is Clean", with less intelligence than a lobotomized gnat.
No idea. I have no contact with anyone in Christian churches.
It's God's will that their preacher get Covid-19 and die. Did you tell you mom to tell that preacher to go fuck himself. Sideways. What a piece of shit! I think your mom and her friend should exercise on that preachers face. It would be God's will.
It’s my mom’s friends’ churches. Both want to stop attending, but their husband’s refuse to do so.will be interesting to see if these wives stand in opposition or not.
