Would you say that some agnostics know of seemingly endless examples where assertions about the existence of a god were incorrect, ludicrous, unsubstantiated or a lie?

Every theist I have ask for objective evidence that a god is real, have failed to do so. I have no knowledge that any gods exist and believe in zero gods.

Does anyone know of an example of an assertion about the existence of a god from a theist which is correct, reasonable, substantiated and/or true?

i can say that it is the pagans (Roman centurion) and atheists (good Samaritan) who are the most praised in the Bible, while the religious are the most vilified, generally speaking

Imo, I think you may well find that Agnostics and Atheists gain such knowledge and comprehensions by READING the bible then using their powers of Reasoning and Logic to decipher the somewhat cryptic writings which eventually leads them to reach such conclusions.
Oh, and to which God are you actually referring here?

lol a “gnostic agnostic”?!

Is @DangerDave STILL rabbiting on and on about his 'gnostic agnostic/atheist' garbage?
Fortunately, I can no longer be inundated with his tiresome drivel since I blocked so time ago.

@Triphid oh,now he put up a poll that leaves us horrifying GA's out entirely, but includes a few choice words about our delusions.....he is Obsessed!

@AnneWimsey In my honest Opinion, deluded, deranged, suffering from cognitive dissonance as well as being obsesssed.

OK...
Some agnostics know of seemingly endless examples where assertions about the existence of a god were incorrect, ludicrous, unsubstantiated or a lie.

I have no knowledge of what some agnostics know.

1

agnostics "knowing" stuff lol
but i would ask what definition of "existence" you are using, as that generally implies "objective evidence?" This is dealt with in the Bible by the "I AM" passages, and "wind" was invoked as a comparison, i guess bc no one knew what the wind was made of then?

but may i suggest that all you might really be doing is depriving yourself of the language used to describe a human's MO, neverminding their "religion," since ppl are still gonna "worship" money, works, power, etc?

Yes, but not endless. 🙂 and often the same examples by both sides.
There can be Agnostic Atheists and Agnostic Theists.

A great example is the biochemistry of life.

To the Agnostic Atheist, the fact that life is demonstrably shown to be a sum of concurrent chemical reactions is an example that there is no soul and likely no god was involved.

To the Agnostic Theist, the sheer complexity of the interactions is enough to convince then there likely is a god.

And there lies the end of the argument since neither will change their mind on the matter.

The human eye is another example.

"soul" and "life" are the same root in the Bible, fwiw

@bbyrd009 i imagine they are. The christian bible is not known for its clear definition of what it claims exists.

Thankfully philosophers help create more rigorous definitions and scientists create truly rigourous definitions backed by evidence and quantitative analysis.

@MakeItGood hmm im not sure they hold the same sway as ordnance salesmen in the great scream of things but ya!

I think deep down many theists know better. However, jumans evolved with a strategy of gatherign in groups for safety, and that instinct is still active. So, people get a sense of safety and well being from belonging to a religion. So, although they know better they continue to be a part of religion. Those who have the biggest doubts often become the most outspoken. Whether they are trying to convince themselves of their felolow congregants if often hard to figure out.

If you are THAT concerned about it, go to places of worship, you will find your endless examples of assertions about the existence of their particular god or gods.

I thought agnostics don’t know anything....so confused with these pointless tropes..

I don't see agnosticism as "not knowing anything," but as saying either in cannot be known whether or not some kind of creator being exists, or what it is exactly if it does exist ( ie if it exists it is beyond human understanding).

Personally, I see no reason to think that any kind of god does, or even might, exist as there is no need to insert one in order to explain the universe; but I am still agnostic on the matter because I accept that I cannot "know/prove" that some sort of god force does not exist.

Now, wen it comes to specific gods--that is a different story.

Just using the original definition- “without knowledge”

I long ago gave up thinking that “Gods” were real. Religion is all made up by morbid minds.

1

Having studied religion in general, and the Christian bible in particular, I have long sing given up on finding any examples of god existence. My mind is not filled with that nonsense nor is it filled with thoughts of a hell or trying to please some god being.

Being able to disprove one particular version of God - or even very many of them - does not disprove all versions or all definitions of God. Who knows? God could exist in a form or by a definition not yet conceived of by humans.

My personal belief on the subject is that any God worth his salt (so to speak) would not actually be definable by human understanding. As much has humans want a God who is their friend, one to do their bidding, and for their benefit, I would think such a God with such a limited existence and scope of being should be an insult to the concept of diety. Something more like the Genie of Aladdin's lamp rather than an omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent being God is typically claimed to be.

Yes, but there is no need for any kind of god/consciousness to exist in order to explain the universe; and, therefore, no need to insert one (or more).

@Joanne - Agreed. My conclusion was that our world would be the same with God as without God. The pursuit of finding or defining God would be a moot point because it is something that would make no difference to our lives. Better to live our lives and let God take care of himself/herself/etc.

Seems a strange question.

If we lived our lives in an underground bunker we may not have seen any.

And if we ever saw a good one, we would not be agnostics.
