I have had the very great luck to work in live theatre for most of the last 35 years.
If money was no object I'd do much more of the same, but I'd choose to work on shows that excite me rather than just those that are available.
To that end I'm directing my first show next year. Eating a lot of beans and 2 minute noodles.

wow- congrats! don't let salty farts stop you...why so long until you begin directing?

@nightowl I was having too much fun on the technical side.

@RobAnybody wait..i read the preceeding sentence..duh. because of quality..der. at any rate, you know how lucky you are, i'm sure of it. break all of the legs...

@nightowl Many thanks. Nervous already, and opening night is nine months away.

This is a hard question for me because I still don't know what I wanna be when I grow up. Like many, I am doing a job I don't love, but that pays me enough to keep me. At this stage of my life, I think I would enjoy doing a simple job in support of the vacation/resort industry. That would keep me around people who are traveling and having fun. This is going to make you laugh, but I love Disneyland and WDW, and I think a fun job for me there (which does not really capture the fantasy nature of your question, but whatevs, LOL!) would be as one of those geezers in the white hats. They are part security, part Park Ambassador, part Walking Information Kiosk. They are always providing directions. I'd be good at that. LOL!

As for fantasy jobs (and these also don't fit your question) I think it would be great fun to operate a pub (where everybody knows your name). Maybe I should buy a Cheers franchise? Or, I wouldn't mind owning/operating a gym/health club. After doing a lot of wine-tasting (cuz that makes me an expert, don'tchaknow) It might also be fun to be a winemaker. I realize that this is a science and would have quite a learning curve (especially for me). Well, there it is.

Amending this. I'd love to work in the film industry. Not sure what I'd do, but being around that would be cool AF. LOL!

I have my dream career! Botanist, I get to explore and spend my days looking at interesting plants, thinking about natural history, and meeting smart, wonderful people.

I would love to be involved in the movie industry in some way. Maybe an idea man who would assit writers or come up with story ideas.

forensic pathologist..money isnt an issue= does that mean in attaining the career or making money from it? 2nd choice just occured to me: adhd circuit speaker and lecturer. help neuro-typicals understand us better..but, the number one would be buying all of the fleets of shit tankers that transport live animals to countries without regulations..these giant ships, filled with sheep, cattle and jeebus knows who else, going from australia to middle eastern ports..the heat, the humidity, the disease and death along the journey only to arrive and be completely terrorized, without mercy. i would purchase all of the livestock that was for sale in the world and dogs and cats in shitty situations, for that matter and purchase/create a wonderland of safety and love for them to live out their precious lives....then i would re-vamp the ships and let homeless live on them...yes!!! i better get crackin'...

I was lucky enough to have a job I loved as a display designer, but after 25 years... Now I would like a job that saves the world, if not then my own little world. I would be a help farmer or scaled up vermiculture. But really I have been doing it, unfortunately there is no money in it, that is being a stay at home dad, I hate to give it up but I've gotten to do it for almost 2 years.

you rock!!!

Playing for the New York Yankees or on stage playing music.

which position? which instrument?

@nightowl I was a pitcher, but I was a better hitter than I was a pitcher. I might have gone further if I concentrated on hitting and playing either 3rd or 1st. I play the piano.

I am actually getting closer toward my dream career as a process design and development engineer. When I was a young kid I always said I wanted to be a scientist, so this is pretty close.

I'd be a writer.

Well, technically I "am" a writer, I guess the better response would be: I would just get paid for it. But I love writing about Supernatural stuff. I have a series of four books about vampires, and a book about a ghost story that transcends generations. I also like to write what I call “religious satire.” I have a book that I call the “Rebuttal to Pilgrim’s Progress.”

One (or both!) of two. Game/hobby store operator/owner or game creator. I'm a nerd. ?

I did the first (first as an operator, later owner/operator), and loved it. I gave it up for my ex. Big mistake. I would love to someday do it again.

The second, I'm working on. I have a game that has been in development for a while, and is going well, but the money gets in the way of publishing it. But I keep chipping at it where I can, and again, maybe someday.
