Statements like these contribute to my ever growing freedom. "Chosen people." I'm also learning that individuals follow this pattern in their relationships. "I'm the chosen one." "I'm more important than you."
"I'm better than you." "I need to put you down so that I can feel raised up." "I am proselytizing because great me knows what's best for you. You couldn't possibly have ideas as great as mine. You need my help. This is how I love you." Religion is a very powerful teacher. It teaches how not to respect and honor each other.

I must add that my time with Japanese Buddhism was just the opposite. But then there was no mention of God. It was a wonderful way (Tao). The older I get as I look back on them, the more I appreciate them. I loved that families were raising their children in this way. One thing we were encouraged to do was to be supportive of each other (black, white, red and yellow). We never advised anyone how to live or deal with their problems, but we supported. Everyone was respected, valued and loved. We recognized and valued each other's quest to solve problems according to their own judgments and efforts. We were encouraged to be brave and honest.

I might also add that I was privileged to have the greatest relationship with my husband. He was so supportive and loving to all. He was known for raising people up, even if it meant to be above him. He, himself, reached the heights (in Who's Who) but he lived by humility and gratitude. I know such a relationship is rare. I believe people need to be inspired to become good at relationships. The first step is to examine the negative effects of their religion and how it feeds their insecurities.

"these pretzels are making me thirsty ! "

Or another way to show discrimination based on religion. Religion is not a race. Since this site is basically the belief that there is no basis for "religion" it's just a way for some people to vent their religious discrimination. There are enough reasons to hate people just because they are assholes, let alone based on something forced on them at birth or based on something non-existent.
