@Alienbeing Which attention-grabbing issues would your proposed third party use to attract voters A third party president would need allies in Congress:

  1. Before ( or after ) Jill Stein ran for president, did she support any Green candidates for Congress?

  2. Has Bernie Sanders supported any candidates for Congress? The Squad?

I want more states to have direct democracy ( DD ): the direct initiative, referendum and recall. Presenly, only 17 states have them and their voters can be effective against corruption.

Basically I want a party that approaches issues from a more moderate position than either current major party seems capable of doing.

@Alienbeing In politics it's often said that moderates don't organize, but you perhaps know that and you're spoofing me.

@yvilletom "What is often said" equates to "they say". Both expressions are often used by surface thinkers.

I'm not spoofing you.

@Alienbeing Those two expressions equate in your mind; they don’t equate in mine.

Since you’re not spoofing, organizing requires much effort and moderates don’t get emotional enough to put that much effort into their political activity.

You and I perhaps differ greatly. I’ve been politically active for half a century.

@yvilletom The expressions equate to the most casual observer.

Sorry to hear yo are among the politically active people who for the last half century have not accomplished anything.

@Alienbeing Ok, you have your beliefs. You also lack evidence.

@yvilletom Go back to sleep, your last response makes no sense at all. You want evidence that "often said" and "they say" equate? Ask around, that is if you have any friends to talk to.

@Alienbeing No. You lack evidence for “...have not accomplished anything”. You now lack evidence for more hostility.

@yvilletom You need to think before writting. How can anyone prove "not accomplished". A negitive cannot be proven. One could disprove that statment but citing an accomplishment. Are you aware of any?

How does one lack evidence for hostility? That makes NO sense at all.

I've been to some really great 3rd parties, but I'm older now, and getting thru the first two is tougher these days.

Unfortunately after Shirley Chisolm's surprisingly strong showing in the seventies, the GOP/Dems set it up so that the chances of a viable third party are almost nonexistent. A healthy democracy has multiple parties reflecting multiple POVs, as many European and other democracies show. The US is a long ways from a healthy democracy.

As Jimmy Carter himself said recently, the US no longer has a functioning democracy...

If it would draw away from the current Republican Party, it would enable the Democratic party to built its power at all levels for a substantial period of time. If that were to happen, we could enact the programs and measures that we and our country need. It would be great!!!

It would seem so. But the thing is, the democrats don't actually want to enact those programs and measures that we need. They serve the corporations and special interest, same as the republicans do.

@RoboGraham Your evidence bakcing that statement????

@wordywalt

They take tens of millions in bribes, I mean campaign contributions, from those entities and even when they have complete control of government, as they currently do, they refuse to implement reforms promised on the campaign trail.

That will never happen in the United States. Not on a national level. Not in our lifetime or our children's.

It appears you can see the future, how great for you.

@Tejas I'm guessing. It's a safe bet. In my lifetime George Wallace almost cost Nixon 1968 and Ross Perot cost Bush the elder 1992. A 3rd party can affect an election but will probably never win a National election.

I am inclined to agree with you...... but I can dream can't I?
