Canada is coming to grips with its genocide of Native Americans, now it is time for the Catholic church to open up its records. from BBC
[bbc.com]
Maybe america will come to grips by the 29th Century.... perhaps?
We still have people that claim there was nothing in th US before the European invasion.
And maybe he should do something about the fact that girls from indigenous communities are 16 times more likely to be murdered than white girls.
This is true in many places that were colonized by Europeans. We can't fix what was done by past generations but we can and should fix the current situation, no excuses.
So the Canadian government asks the Catholic Church to do its dirty work and then blames it for doing so. I think Trudeau's move on the Catholics is a clumsy diversion attempt.
Sure the Church was an enthusiast accomplice and has blood on its hands. But the natives genocide is mostly the works of colonialist governments and corporations. It's all about gaining access to the land and what it has to offer: lumber, mining, fossil fuels, rivers.
Yes, it was done in many places in the world.
So, When you Moving Out? You are on Natives Ground!!!!!!!
I wouldn't hold my breath for THAT to happen. They don't HAVE to legally, because Vatican City is a Sovereign State and they have no intention of adding fuel to the fire(the FIRE I might add they were and PROBABLY STILL ARE guilty of). Just sayin...Namaste
"The Universal Corporation of Paedophilia, Child Abuse, Misogyny, Homophobia, Racism, Savagery and Brutality to open up its RECORDS?"
You got be very very hopeful imo.
IF ALL the dirt the R.C.C. has 'swept under the carpets' EVER truly comes to see the light of day it will a happening beyond all imaginings.
Bugger 'letting the Church Officials in on the Actions to take, leave the bastards standing out in the dark and the rain, go after them for EVERYTHING and Anything, go Hammer and Tongs, take No Prisoners, Give No Quarter, they DESERVE NOTHING less.
Exactly.If I rob a bank and claimed I did it when I was a Mormon, would that make me less guilty?
@Holysocks Moron ( sorry Mormon) or not you'd still be a guilty arse-wipe imo.
But claiming religion as an alibi would make you look even worse since Christians are ALWAYS preaching to EVERYONE else just how Pious, Righteous, Moral, etc, etc they are BECAUSE their Bible tells them that they are and therefore THEY must be right because their stupid little book is right because IT tell that it is right and they can't argue with that now can they?
Confused now or not quite yet, then try to think just how mentally screwed up the Faithfools are but still haven't realised that they are.
@Holysocks How many wives?
@GipsyOfNewSpain
I dropped out when I discovered weed. That's probably the reason the answer to your question is zero.
Remember Tuam.
Not just Tuam either.
Remember that UNTIL the late 1950's - early 1960's EVERY Catholic Convent ( Nunnery) HAD a Lime-pit in its grounds, EVERY ONE of them.
No, those Lime-pits WERE NOT used for the disposal of Household waste and Rubbish, No NOT at ALL in fact, THEY were SOLELY for the PURPOSES of DISPOSING of the Babies resulting from either Unwed Mothers whose background was NOT up to the Standards set for Adoption of their baby/babies AND the Unwanted Babies born to Nuns and Fathered by the 'regularly visiting Priest, Bishops, etc, etc, who demanded and required some 'after meals entertainments.
In 1963-64 an Edict was sent around by the Vatican ORDERING that ALL Lime-pits in Convents be IMMEDIATE filled in and covered with a layer of concrete NO LESS than 12 inches in thickness and re-enforced with steel rods, etc.
@Triphid not that I doubt you for an instant but what source are you basing this "Edict" on?
@phoenixone1 The same question occurred to me.
@phoenixone1 "Papal Bull ( Edict)" issued by the College of Cardinals, dated Easter Monday, 1963 and again released and re-dated 27/4/1963.
Unfortunately for the R.C.C. in 1986, they closed down the Nun Accommodations across the Street from where I was living with my wife and infant daughter.
A family friend had his own Earth-Moving and Demolition Business at the time, I was on my Annual Leave from the Railways, so he asked IF I'd like earn few extra dollars by helping him demolish the 'Nunnery.'
The first 2 days we went through the entire building seeking out ANYTHING salvageable/re-sellable/re-useable, etc.
The Nuns seemed to have 'packed and departed' in quite some hurry because there were Filing Cabinets,14 of them, left locked up and stored in what would have been once the Coal Storage cellar. at least 4 dozen large crates filled with clothing ranging from new-born sizes and up to about 12-18 months of age, discarded women's clothing ( most definitely NOT what the Nuns would have worn BEFORE taking their vows, etc, and a big metal box, locked tight containing women's jewellery of all kinds and values.
We found BOTH copies of the Papal Bull, still in the envelopes, with the broken Seal of the Pope on them.
We also, after some digging in the yard of the Nunnery, eventually found the Lime-Pit as well, sadly, the Lime had NOT quite done its dirty work on many a bone that we found as we were emptying out the pit using a Back-hoe.
The Police and a Forensic Team were there for 4 solid days combing through EVERYTHING that came out of that Lime-pit.
@Triphid Uh-huh. Thanks for that background information, revolt though it is.
@anglophone Just noticed that I'd mis-typed a date in my comment about the Nunnery Lime-pit. the date on the second Papal Bull was 27/4/64 not 27/4/63.
@Triphid So you are human after all!
@anglophone Yep, 100% human.
I wonder if the Catholics are responsible for the death of native Americans???
Beginning with the Spaniards in 1492 and continuing until the 1980s, the RCC had a hand in the genocide under the guise of enlightenment and conversion. Now their concern is controlling women.
I think the mass graves at at least one of its schools give a resounding yes. Read the article it has some insight.
I am stupified that you even ask this question. Ever hear of Columbus? When the last chief of the taino Indians refused to convert, he is alleged to have said, if all the christians like you are in heaven, I choose death.
