Would you truly like to live on a sailboat and travel the world?
Why or why not? What is holding you back?
20 year Veteran of US Navy. The Ocean, The Sky, The Wind and this Guy... Shared plenty time together. A large enough SailBoat for Mixed Crew of 4, 5 adventurers, plenty of percussion instruments for Rumba para Neptuno. Zone between Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn is Orgy Zone. (I said Mixed Crew, Damn it) My Summer in the Mediterranean, My Winter in Brazil and Argentina. Will never drive a car again. Not afraid of being Lost at Sea.
Would I?
No.
Why?
I'm happy to do day trips in good weather.
What's holding me back?
I have a healthy respect for the power of the sea and storms and would rather stay out of instances where they mix
I was going to call you Tuna because is the chicken of the sea but... Respect for a Sea Storm is REAL and I Salute you.
Thank you, if I were a more seasoned sailor I might feel differently, but grew up sailing on lakes.
How would I get my insulin and the paraphenelia around the insulin pump? Delivery by helicopter? Amazon drones? I would love to go and have that experience, but too late, too sick. I am posting this song for you:
I do live on my sailboat! But I can't travel the world yet, I have to work for now. For the time being, I travel the PNW on weekends and vacations.
No, because I can only take so much seeing water and shore line. It's also probably the least wanted place I would like to be stranded if something went wrong.
Yes, but first I would seriously need to update my ocean-worthy abilty to control a sailboat, as well as save and/or earn enough money to do this correctly. I get sea sick too. Maybe it would be better just to stick with medium sized lakes.
I've already sailed a large part of the world, but would happily do it again, yes. This time, however, I don't want to buy the boat.
Nowhere to walk the dog.
My dog loves sailing! And she has an astroturf potty station that I just spray off afterwards. No problems!
I would! I've had the privilage to crew on some reprodution historic sailing ships (Bounty, Golden Hind, Rose) but didn't sail the world, just up and down the east coast.
No.
I'd rather travel land by vehicle.
Less chance of drowning.
Did for a while. Might again.
Living in the road, like anything else, has its good and bad sides.
I love the idea of it. The practicality, not so much.
I would if I didn't have to do hoisting of sails-limited hand strength.
No I would not. The quarters are cramped, the boat rocks back and forth, up, and down and it is possible to drown. The idea of traveling the vworld in a sailboat sounds romantic but is very unhealthy and uncomfortable. Better to take a plane ride and stay at first class hotels.
Get a catamaran, much more space and way more comfortable. Not unhealthy at all! It's like a floating apartment.
No thanks..@CalebMarion
My friend lived on a boat in N. Wales for time. I went out on it once or twice. One time we were heading towards Bangor on the lee side of the great Orme. The entrance to the channel is rocky and full of currents. So there is a lighthouse there which had a bell. This rang intermittently, (I think it was triggered by wave power) the deep sound of this warning bell spoke directly into you soul and it said " REMEMBER..... THAT.... YOU.... ARE.... MORTAL "
