I’ve just heard the sad news this morning of the death in Nashville of Don Everly of The Everly Brothers, aged 84. His brother Phil sadly already left us in 2014. Crying in the Rain seems a fitting tribute.

RIP Don. You did a damn good job.

Yes…they had some great songs…epic harmonies.

Yep, we are all getting old.

Can’t do anything about it except live every moment to the fullest.

I was always a fan…fortunately, sans parental input.

as a child I wasn't permitted to "like" the Everly Brothers. As an adult I love every song they perform. Take that parents!

Will they be spinning in their graves!

@Marionville Good!

What was your parents' objection? The brothers were too worldly? Too suggestive? Not macho enough? Thay had one salty lyric inca song somewhere? Or was it simply you weren't allowed to have your own opinions? I'm puzzled. 🤔

@MikeInBatonRouge Only classical music was permitted in my tyrannical father's house as a child. Once he moved out the Everly Brothers became one of my favorite acts. Opinions? The pendulum swung from oppression to my current state which is having an opinion on everything. =0}

Hey, 84 is a pretty good run, Hope this old core lasts that long.

Yes..his brother Phil who was 2 years younger died in 2014…which made him only 75 when he died.

@Marionville My best G/F of 35 years died at 57, Colon cancer.

@MerlinZap I lost my big handsome husband at only 63 with cancer of the esophagus after 37 years happily married.

Yes, my husband just mentioned it not 5 minutes ago.

Their songs were everywhere here too.....radio, tv, music shops......

Yes…they were huge.

@Marionville Kathy's Clown was a favourite.

@Lilac-JadeCanada yes..it was a good one too.

Remember hearing this a lot on my little 3 transistor radio.

I’m sure you did…over here in the U.K. in the 60s the Everlys were constantly on the radio too..they were everywhere.

One of my favorites from the Born Yesterday album. So it goes.

Love it…nice to hear something other than the big hits. They really were great singers and I like the songs that they don’t sing in their higher registers.

@Marionville I loved the entire album (except Arms Of Mary but that's not terrible either).

@rainmanjr No it’s not.

Nothing quite like this pair.

No…best harmonies in the business.

Yes…for many of us I think.

Very sad. The end of an era.

Yes indeed…that generation is dying out! ….they were great, I think I bought most of their singles.
