I’m going to show you a Bible verse that’s used a lot in churches to help explain the foolishness you see in them. They actually believe that god chooses foolish thing and foolish ideas in order to confuse smart people. So if you’re doing something completely stupid it could be god will in order to frustrate a smart person.

God was speaking to our previous Commander in Chief?

Yeah but then the devil interrupted god and told him to grab her by the pussy

@abyers1970 There is no devil either, other than testosterone.

Daniel dennett identifies these religions as having evolved to include sophisticated ways to keep people in the belief. Makes sense to me. Critical thinking is discouraged such as in Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding".
Still some people really need religion to survive and thrive in life. It's a tricky problem.

Does that make ALL the foolish people his chosen ones?

Yep and since they ARE so dumb and so easily deluded they also think and believe so as well.

Well, accurate.

Christianity does choose both the foolish and the weak.

This is a way of justification of their belief in nonsense.

Very close to the "god fearing christian" idea. Which was introduced into the Christian theology, in the first place, to counter the Stoic philosophers who argued that if god was all good and fair in all things, then nobody need fear god, because you will always receive fairness and justice.

The christian fathers then introduced god fearing, because they said god may be unreasonable and/or ask you to do evil in order to test you, yet he is still good and perfect. Yep have a few drinks before you try to get your head round that.

Tried that similar comment to a Faithfool once quite some time ago, her response was as follows, " We do NOT fear God for God is kind loving, fair, just, benevolent and absolutely perfect, we only fear the loss of the love and things we get from god."

yeah, that's just to cover their asses for their own stupidity. Makes them feel all warm and fussy inside when they do stupid things.

I have seen a church sign that said "Follow Science Be Damned." That was the same church that held a yearly Veterans day meal, "Jane Fonda not invited" and once had a "Follow Muhammad Be Damned."
Funny story - it caught on fire, quite accidentally. The guy who reported it did so at a bar nearby, after he ordered his regular beer. He told those around him that he thought about finishing the beer first. I've been in that bar - pretty conservative crowd, so you can see that church did not invoke much pity.

I hope someone bought that beer for him!?🙃

@Buck Not Sure. He was a fun guy - passed away at only 50.
