I spent an unexpected beach day with my un-Valentine (ex-boyfriend) since he needed a ride to a friend's house near where I was working this morning. After I finished my work and he finished his errand, we drove to a beach further away, with no cell reception.

So, that was nice that he wasn't checking his phone every few minutes as he usually does, but just to prove that annoying habit wasn't our problem, we still ended bickering a fair amount during the outing. Just another lesson in why we're not together, haha!

Glad I had thought to bring my swimsuit, beach blanket, and snacks. We also stopped for fish tacos on the way home.

My wedding couple had given me a bottle of chilled champagne and had my -boyfriend been less annoying I might have been tempted to open it to sip on the beach at sunset tonight, but that would have been inviting trouble. It will stay in my fridge until a different occasion.

Did anyone else spend Valentine's day with their -Valentine? If so, how did it go?

(Had to go through and edit this - seems the site dropped some of my words.)

No ex’s for me this year. LOL It was me and my Lizzie girl spending V-Day together.

If mine was around I would be OK with spending the day with her. Valentines is also the wedding anniversary. As it went for me I had a zero Valentines Day. It was just another day at my place.

Sometimes it's a good day to love ourselves. And to send messages to people we care about so they feel loved as well. Though I don't pressure myself to do that anymore. I sent cards and candy to my kids/grandkids, but I'm sure they will arrive late, as I didn't get to the post office in time. In the grand scheme of things, I let them know I love them, every day, not just when the calendar says I should.

@Julie808 I had purchased valentines and little goodies for my two youngest grandchildren when I was in Texas recently. I left them there for mom and dad to give them on Valentine’s Day. I got a sweet FaceTime call from both of them thanking me and wishing me a happy Valentine’s Day. I no longer have a sweetheart, but I can be a sweetheart to those I love, and V-Day was a nice time to do that.

@Redheadedgammy My current sweethearts are my grandsons. My youngest grandson loves any excuse to Video call l me, since he can do it himself with his iPad. So, yep, I got a call this afternoon thanking me for the package of goodies that arrived in the mail yesterday. For effect, he was munching on one of the goodies when he called, of course!

I went to work with a bunch of great kids and we had a good day apart from the fire alarm going off
Week 3 of school and so far we have had
A fire at the school so the it was closed for a day and the building is being gutted (electrical fire so all of the wiring has to be removed and replaced)
A code red as one of our high needs students had a meltdown and was racing around the school with a pencil. (yup we call code reds for a pencil)
and this week a fire alarm (no cause) and yesterday (my Tuesday) we had to call an ambulance as one of our students was dizzy unable to stand and felt tightness in his chest (they suspect an Anxiety related issue but will need to be checked out)

As well as 1/4 of the center's staff being home with omnicrom despite being vaccinated.

Oh my! Still, a lot of love shown, even for the pencil wielding student having a bad day. On the plus side, no school shootings as we have sometimes in America.

I spent the day with my cats...we didn't argue...we didn't try to change each other...it was GREAT. I did send Happy Valentine's day wishes to two ex girlfriends...nice to be on speaking terms.

My ex stopped by to drop off her dog on the way to work and eat her salad. Gave me a kiss as she was leaving, a rare treat and as close to a Valentine gift as she can bring herself to give.

A nice surf and turf dinner at home and some fresh tulips with my truly, madly, deeply Valentine for the past 25 years. This year we didn't exchange cards because it was just too much hassle trying to shop with Covid restrictions.

I cannot recall who but someone once said: "every man loves two women. One is the creation of his imagination and the other has not been born yet." Remembered it was Kahil Gibran

Yes, I think my ex remembers who he imagined me to be, rather than truly ever really knowing who I am. Imagined perfection is too much to live up to in reality - and too much to compromise to become. So we bicker since neither of us is willing to become who we wish the other could be.

@Julie808 So much energy and time wasted on second guessing the other, the ideal imagined other and little or no time exploring and accepting oneself, warts and all.

@ASTRALMAX Yep, that's why I'm happy to just be on my own for now. I know myself, warts and all, and am happy with that.

I talked to my ex-husband on the phone. Does that count? 🙂
