God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. My God, there's three of them!
This caused great hilarity to me and my mates at Sunday school. I always got a fit of the giggles when the minister said this.
However on further inspection what does it really mean.
A ghost is an apparition of a dead person, so what they are saying is that Jesus didn't really rise from the dead but only an apparition was seen ?.
Kind of spoils the party a bit, doesn't it.
From a mythical perspective the creator of everything; and a theanthropic human; and a vibe, feeling, spirit or presence; covers the basics.
One may wonder, where would xtianity stand today, in the Mideast if the trinity had not been voted through. Many xtion sects there were non trinitarians and as they faded with no support from the established church, or outright were banished, many followers began to follow a newer rising religion with only one god, Islam.
It's called trimurti in Hinduism, triad of the three gods Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva.
Different hindu sects different names.
I questioned a xtian about that three god trinity concept at the age of 15. His explanation was take eg the egg. It's not called an egg without the yolk, the albumin and the shell and it's the same with the godhead - three in one
With a serious face the trinity believers all claim this is the greatest mystery of such a magnitude that none of us understand. I never got it. I never had the Holy Goat.
A usual cop out for inexplicables is "God works in mysterious ways". and my reply yo everyone who ever said that to me (including priests) has been "in other words you can't explain what you allege".
Plenty of Infernal names too from the Satanic Bible…..Baphomet, Lucifer, Belial, Satan, Baphomet, Sammael, Beherit just to name a few.
This year i got 6 llamas for the cost of 3 from Heifer International...does that count?
Reminds me of the story about the Three Jesuses of Kalamazoo. Once upon a time, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, there was a State Mental Hospital, with several patients who each claimed to be Jesus.
To cure them of their delusions, the staff decided to lock all three up, in the same room, for thirty days.
At the end of that period, the docters asked them if they still believed themselves to be Jesus. One of the three said "Oh no, I'm the Father, he's the Son, and he's the Holy Ghost!". (True story!).
Waiting to witness the cumming of the lord??!!
3 for the price of 1... not a bad deal really!
This is one gift horse whose mouth bears some scrutiny.
