I'm back. Agnostic.com disappeared off my computer for a long time, maybe about 4 or 5 months. I thought it was gone forever. Recently, it reappeared. What happened? And now that it's back, it seems to be nearly dead...no posts from people I knew before. Which makes it really boring. Any suggestions?

First, the site owners let its certification expire, which meant most browsers would no longer go to the site. The certification was later renewed and the site was up and working again.

If you want o increase activity on the site, post the site on Facebook or other sites to help promote it. If you go into your own profiles, there is a way to actually increase you "points" by promoting the site.

Awful lot of points on this thread…..maybe I need a lengthy hiatus myself…..😎

I found that it was back because I looked it up just out of curiosity every now and then even though I was sure it would never be revived, not least because it already appeared to be in terminal decline. Having most of the special interest groups closed just for slow activity always hampered the growth of the site as it was impossible to get enough momentum going for them to pick up enough members to take off, so the site's never been run optimally. No email's been sent out to say the site's back up and running either, so that's likely why so many people haven't returned, which again doesn't look like the best way to run things, though I don't know what it costs to run a forum that can send out emails to all the members. Perhaps it should have a Facebook presence as well to highlight its best content, and that could be used to keep in touch with members without using emails whenever there are future issues with the forum.

There IS a fb page [facebook.com]

Welcome back. It is just like before, you go two three days and nothing, then suddenly all your old friends post something really good.

The Admin did not renew the security cert for about five months, so most browsers barred the site, it was renewed a couple of months ago, so most of us just started tell the old members the site was back, let others know and they may come back too. 🙂

Yeah. Just found it again too. Guess it had its 15 minutes of fame a few years ago.

Welcome back. We missed you.

@KateOahu thank you 🙂

Messaging doesn't work but then you never did so it doesn't matter.

The stuff is there, you just have to go looking for it.

Some of us 'die hard' members rode the roller coaster of https certificate expiration and renewal and been hanging in here because we love the cause and the members here.

Welcome back.

Yes, our "heyday" such as it was has come and gone, and it's not quite as engaging as it once was. I guess we all have fallen into other habits, but who knows, this site might come back to being addictive once again. Seems a lot more scammers and crazies on here, without anyone weeding them out. But liberal use of the block function can solve that problem. 😉

Welcome back; we missed you. We don’t know the answers.

I see you got yourself a new girlfriend while you was away!!! ☺️ Hope she isn’t a repub!!?!!😒

There is a Zoologist from Darwin NT Au who was caught sexually abusing dogs. He admitted to killing puppies when he had sex with them. He had a constant supply of dogs over the last 20 years for his sexual exploits.
Unbelievably his wife took exception to his sexual obsession to the extent she immediately left the country,(emigrated) changed her name even before filing for a divorce.

The past is dead and gone. no technology we have now that enables us to go back, BUT the present and future offer ample opportunities. It is up to you to make the best of them
