And I would be much more of an explorer if I could afford it
I hear that
The way I do it is very cheap often free except for flights
@ipdg77 I do lots of day trips but right now that is the extent
@Andyg17 how??? What is your secret?
I do helpx and house sits. Helpx is generally staying somewhere for a couple of weeks working about 4 hours a day. In return I get fed and housed and shown around the area. There's a huge network in helpx and housesitting. I've house sat everything from castles in Scotland to a shack in the pyrenees in france. It really is a fun way to see the world and meet local people Ameliematise
@Andyg17 wow I gotta look that up. It sounds very interesting
@AmelieMatisse, I'm going to check it out too. Wow!
If someone had asked me two years ago what the capital city of Macedonia, Albania, or Vietnam was, I would have had to google shamefully. But now I know even more, due to the constant dreaming and planning to see one or the other country. Second is the culture and traditions of the peoples of the world. Imagine people with different life outlooks, strange and sometimes terrifying traditions, and completely different religions. All this inspires and awakens your curiosity about everything you see and feel. I love to take different souvenirs from countries. I recently found jigsaw puzzles with a picture of the capital of France. If I could show it, that would be perfect.
I have spend 4 years of my life wandering exotic and interesting countries. I think I really need 700 years more to see and experience what I need to fulfill my desire for travel. I'm off to Scotland again next week to begin another journey.
Nice!
I love to travel. I'm traveling today for a few days. I try to take my son somewhere new every summer. His first flight was when we went to Mexico for a week. He was 9 and still remembers that trip. Last summer we went to Greece for a month. That was a life altering experience for him.
Yes, I like to explore, travel.
Couple reasons why I don't though, at least not outside the US.
I would love nothing more than to travel the world, but he travels fastest he who travels alone, when you are settled with loving family, your options are certainly more limited, also financing trips is another limiting factor.
I agree but weekend excursions or day trips can be affordable and satisfy the travel bug.
@BeeHappy. Don't get me wrong I have travelled extensively as a single man or with girlfriends and pals, but the only places I have taken my wife and kids to are Eygpt , France , Greece, Spain, & Portugal..thats pretty much it. I have To bring them somewhere a little more exotic and adventurous some time.
I don't like the discomfort of travel.
The heat, disrupted sleep, crowds, running for connecting flights. If I could click my fingers and be transported to the Taj Mahal or the Grand Canyon that would be fine, it's just the in between bit I don't like.
I've done plenty of travelling in my youth. At first it's exciting, then it gets tedious. The sound of a tent zip being pulled is not music to my ears.
? Will your indulgence improve climate change? Result in your fulfilment? Keep you healthy? Enable your peace? ?
I always remind people that my parents first went to an area about 50 miles in diameter on their honeymoon. 50 years later they were still going there and when we were children went there 2 Saturdays out of 3 winter or summer. Despite that there were still parts that they had never been to and events not viewed or participated in.
You will never find what you want if it is hidden inside you.
@PraiseXenu, thank you my thoughts exactly.
I'm an explorer of ideas. I don't have the budget for physical travel.
Course you do...just walk to new places. Travel doesn't have to mean jetsetting
@skado I find if I walk round my little town or along the canal you can find lots of hidden treasures you never knew existed. Loads of old industrial heritage or ancient burial mounds...its fascinating. I travelled around the world for 10 years. It was fun but in the end theres no place like home
