God so loved the world that he gave it a book full of rules about people they could kill, maim, torture, burn and enslave in his name for being curious, disobedient and ungrateful for his not drowning them all again!
Glad they don’t use those to much anymore except in in mostly communist totalitarian regimes. The Democrat party with its ruthless persecution of January 6th protestors is trending that way.
Until that statement, I was giving you the benefit of a doubt that you just had a different political view. Now it is obvious that you actually endorse and excuse the violence of those who participated in the Jan. 6th (poorly attempted) insurrection.
Trumps rhetoric and posts on his social media company make it clear that he endorses violence if he loses (again).
Jan. 6th, 2001, was the first time there was NOT a peaceful transfer of power from one president to another in our country's history. Unless we want violence to be a regular occurrence after every election, it is important to demonstrate that there are consequences for violence. There is NO evidence or even claims of anyone who has been accused of Jan. 6th crimes having been tortured, as you are implying.
January 6th was more a protest that got out of hand than an insurrection. The American civil war was an insurrection. I know people who were questioned by the FBI who were present in DC on the 6th but never entered the capital. A lot of the protest following the George Floyd killing where millions of dollars worth of property was destroyed turned into a full blown insurrection.
@Trajan61 The States of Washington and Oregon have entirely voted by mail for almost 20 years, and there has never been any evidence of any organized or massive voter fraud. In fact they have had fewer cases of voter fraud. It is hard to commit massive voter fraud with the safe gaurds they have in place.
First, individual ballots are sent directly to a person's home. Each return envelope is bar coded right next to the signature line. Scan the bar code and it can immediately be compared to the signature on file. Each bar code scanned records who returned ballots (voted). I myself registered to vote at the DMV when I filed my change of address, so in a sense my ID was checked and verified.
Voting by mail has been shown to be the most secure voting system in the U.S. What is concerning to me is that republicans don't want to switch over to the more secure system. Why? Because voting by mail increases voter turn out, because it makes it easier and more convenient for people to vote, and higher voter turn outs more often favor democrats over republicans.
It has been made clear by Paul Wayrich, who wanted to restrict voter access way back in the 1970's and republicans have taken his advice to heart ever since.
I would love to use that device on the hands of all scammers and phishers.
I once saw a torture instruments exhibition in Lisbon. It was quite gruesome. It's amazing how the human imagination created so many things to inflict pain and suffering to his fellow humans. The funny thing is that all of the devices I saw there were associated to the so called Holy Inquisition.
Reminds me of the classic Monty Python sketch, "No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!", followed by dramatic music...
@TomMcGiverin, on Sunday I actually saw The Life of Brian. I know that sketch. It's brilliant!!!
The first inquisition was set up to root out and extirpate heretic Christians, such as Cathars, anabaptists and Albigensianism along with various version of Gnosticism.
It was only after most of them had been been through extermination, or assimilated like the Marcions that the second (Spanish) inquisitions started on the Muslims and Jews.
The Inquisition still exists to this day only now in the Vatican they call it the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith
