The war in Ukraine is likely to end this year, Ukraine is on the ropes, only massive intervention by NATO would prevent defeat, and that doesn't seem in the cards. All a terrible waste, the war could easily have been avoided, and even after it started it could have ended. Russia's peace terms were perfectly reasonable, instead Zelensky banked on America's empty promises. As America's proxy wars go, this was one of the stupidest, but boy, the American arms industry made buckets of money!

And if Ukraine does seek peace this summer, boy, might as well hand the election to Trump. Gonna be an interesting summer for sure. As always I hope for a just peace and end to war, but history teaches that rarely happens.

Ukraine is finished and there is nothing NATO can do except use nukes. The time for negotiations are past. It will be total surrender as the Russians have lost too much blood now. NATO will disintegrate over Ukraine and good riddance I say. Europeans will form a new pact, probably including Russia and tell the US to piss off. China is now pushing for a proper investigation into Nord Stream and I feel the chickens will come home to roost soon.
Ukraine's constitution stipulates National presidential elections every 5 years. An election is due May 20th, which Zelenskyy has already cancelled. After this date, Zelenskyy will officially/ legally be a dictator.
Many don't read Russian news but what they are basically saying is this; During wars you don't go after the head of state. Legal head's of state ie elected ones. A dictator is not a legitimate head of state in the view of the Russians. So on May 21st, Zelenskyy will need to start living in bunkers as he will be targeted by Russia for assassination from that day on. I dare say they are already propagandising the Ukrainian's that Zelenskyy must go for the war to end, hoping Ukrainian's will roll him themselves and then seek an early peace before total defeat.
I give the conflict weeks not months. Col Douglas MacGregor is predicting it will be over in 60 days. I suspect the Russian forces will intensify after the 20th.
I fear once defeat for Ukraine is obvious to all, something will start re Taiwan. Biden needs war for re-election and if he can't distract with an active war, voters will recall Afghanistan and Ukraine, probably Israel as well, as the legacy of #46 and he will be slaughtered in election. But a hot war with China? Voters rally behind wartime leaders is Democrat thinking (or wartime losers the reality in O'Biden's case)

"Sexual violence in the Russian invasion of Ukraine has been committed by Armed Forces of Russia, including the use of mass rape as a weapon of war. According to the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine, the victims of sexual assault by Russian soldiers ranged from 4 years old to over 80 years old." [en.wikipedia.org].

During the Russo-Ukrainian War, Russia has forcibly transferred almost 20 thousand Ukrainian children to areas under its control, assigned them Russian citizenship, forcibly adopted them into Russian families, and created obstacles for their reunification with their parents and homeland.
[en.wikipedia.org].

Numerous war crimes were recorded, including murder, torture, abductions, deportation, looting, rape against Ukrainian women, terror, attacks on civilians, unlawful airstrikes or attacks against civilian objects, wanton destruction, unlawful confinement, threats of violence, and inhumane treatment of POWs.

I recall seeing a pile of bodies. On top was a toddler that had been tied up and shot in the head. I think it was this:

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights documented the unlawful killings, including summary executions, of at least 73 civilians in Bucha.Photos showed corpses of civilians, lined up with their hands bound behind their backs, shot at close range.
[en.wikipedia.org]

I guess that makes you proud...

Yeah, shame on the Ukrainians and the UN for staging all those photos and mass graves.
