Okay so I've always been a neck sniffer.
A potential new partner - lean in for that hug and sniff.

If the sniff doesn't make something curl up or zing?
No compatibility.

Do others do this? Or not?

I'm baffled that not everyone does this!

Discuss please!

Ok this is new..and I probably do it but uncertain..buuut smell is important..

I know this is a serious question and deserves a serious answer but my lack of maturity requires that I ask, is this considered neckrophillia?

LOL!

... as in one who swings by night - with a spade?

I'm not partial to the neck in particular, but I have asked men I've dated to not wear cologne so I could smell their scent. It's make or break for me.

Yup not fond of cologne at all.

I don't mind it on men I'm not interested in... Go figure!

To cologne or to not cologne, that IS the question!

I've had this go galvanically both ways. Women who want me to wear one scent or another and others who want NO scent at all (save au naturel, of course).

Through the years, most colognes have proven to give ME a headache when I wear them. Just recently I found one that doesn't and I wear it, but only one small spray behind each ear...

ALL of that said, when it is requested, I don't wear it and am fine either way.

I can't stand most men's cologne. And most men usually use too much. If I'm attracted to a natural scent, it always bodes well for further physical interraction....if you get my drift...
But kissing on my neck is a perfect way to get me going....vrooom!

I HATE cologne almost as much as I hate tobacco.

There's something about complimentarity of immune systems. It's genetically linked, and signalled instinctively via scent. When a potential procreative mate (dunno about homosexual pairings; suspect it's similar) has an immune system that meshes well with yours, they'll smell irresistible. The idea is that nature wants you to boink the person whose DNA will combine with yours to produce the fittest possible offspring.

That's not necessarily someone whose DNA and/or immune system is like yours, either: due to inheritance of recessive traits, it's more likely that someone with different genetic traits is going to be nature's idea of a good mate for you.

9

There's something very primal about being able to distingquish your mate's distictive smell when she/he is around.

9

Can't say I specifically sniff necks but I do like overwhelming the senses with extreme physical closeness; touch, smell and sound. It really feels like an altered state.

9

I'll be sure to wash my neck and behind my ears from now on. ?...just in case...

It's entirely pheremonally based, and I know it. Sorry, if there's no chemistry, nothing will ever happen. Decent chemistry can make up for a guy not meeting my personal tastes. I prefer small and dark, think Mediterranean... and I'm still dating a large white Russian guy, because the pheremones and personality are compatible. I think he's pleasantly ugly, but I'd never tell him that.

@Granolagirl, ____ knows he's not my usual type physically, but he thinks I look yummy so I just don't feel the need to tell him that his looks are a turn off. Once I'm close with someone, I'm pretty tactile anyway.

I love your response! Its so true.

If they don't pass the sniff test then it's a dead end----

I didn’t realize this was a thing, however since you posted I feel the urge to sniff a neck.

Believe me as a women it tells you something about compatibility. lol

@RavenCT Ahem... /e puts on his grammar nazi uniform: "as a women"? 🙂

@Gnarloc Oh you're right. Or did I mean for her and I? lol

@RavenCT Mind if I giggle snort? 🙂

@Gnarloc Go ahead. lol

If a potential partner is comfortable enough to let me get that close, then, of course, I am going to drink in the pheromones. It isn't necessarily an overtly obvious sniffing of the neck, but a deep inhale followed by a sigh of contentment while in a nice embrace handles all of that, nicely, and without awkwardness.

Yes I didn't mean snuffling - at all....

@RavenCT Yeah, but someone I'm REALLY comfortable with, is another story, and I might snuffle just for the giggles it could cause on both sides.

@Meep70 Well yes!

Yes. Into the relationship. Scent is a big deal. Sometimes even pre-shower morning scent (although I promise not to smell your breath in the morning.)

Do love morning skin smell of most people...

Sniff lick bite kiss mmm necks are great 🙂 especially ones that smell good. it turns me on a lot, especialy having my neck sniffed and kisses and bitten.

6

I do but not like "SNIIIIIIIIIIFFFFFFFF- ahhhhh"

Inhale might have been a better choice of words! lol

@RavenCT lmfao yeah maybe lmao like I knew what you meant but I just pictured creepy ass guys making a giant show of sniffing people

6

Ok who tagged this kinky? rofl

I don't know, but I added #weird. lol

@bingst But so far more do it - then don't? lol

Not me! And I'm particular about armpits too! 😀

@Bierbasstard What a shame 😟 I just met someone as scent sensitive as myself, it's wonderful. Idk if it's going anywhere- not counting on it doing so but it's been fun...
Mine smell slightly metallic with a faint musk, for lack of a better word. I like a slightly musk/metallic/feral "aura" on men too so... not sure if a thing but sometimes wonder if cinnamon affect me, for the better. LOL (self armpit love lmao)

eta/ wore one of my old signature scents for the first time around my "friend" and in hindsight could tell it threw him off. :/ He didn't say anything tho..but there I was, slightly strong w/vintage "on the prowl" foof on.

@Bierbasstard Uh yeah.... some of us are way "high octane" in that, uh, department ...given the chance with the right person. It's all I can do not to shred my new "friend" apart. Dude needs to clone himself for 2nd & 3rd shifts!! LOL

@Bierbasstard yeah not the same! 😛

@Bierbasstard Indeed 🙂

A hug will do it

Pretty much. I have a preference for the curve of the neck below the ear - but don't know what to call that? lol

5

Scent is important to my experience. I sniff all. I usually want sex BEFORE she showers 😀

I agree. nothing is better than sex with a sweaty working man. I go nuts smelling a man's armpits. crazy, I know!

5

The long slow sniff along someone neck is an erotic gesture, so, yes I have been known to do this.

5

I don’t specifically sniff necks, but I do notice a lady’s scent when she’s nearby. To me, being aware of how you smell is a just part of being groomed

5

I never thought about it, but I do love the smell of the necks of my loved ones. Not sure if it's something I would do as a test, but maybe each has a smell I have learned to love because of my feelings toward that person. (babies, intimate partners, etc.) I think it's natural to breathe in the scent of loved ones as a pleasurable thing. I suppose if I didn't like the smell of someone, I wouldn't get close enough to find out what their neck smelled like.

You'd probably instantly know if you smelled someone who smelled wrong (intimate partner). It's weird but seems to be true.

And all those other smells are true too! 😉

@RavenCT i knew it was the end of my husband when he stopped smelling like himself...like undescribable...death 😟 which wasn't until the very end, last 3 weeks. But it was also apparent the dogs could tell when he'd had chemo, they would glom all over him checking on him with head hugs, kisses...I'm sure he smelled WAY different to them. ...

5

But, I'm not quite as picky. Pheromones are definitely important, but it takes more than that to make a "zing", or break one!

5

Yes, I do it, but had not given it thought prior to this question. It is not a deal breaker, but some ladies are delicious,

5

I don't think I do it intentionally but, I do know that the smell has an affect! (Hopefully not making something curl though. That would not be a preferred outcome.)

"Zing?"! lol

@RavenCT Bingo.

4

If you know,
How many necks have you sniffed?
How many resulted in you having positive reaction?
How many resulted in a committed relationship?

4

I'm not a sniffer, but I've been known to nibble a bit

4

I'm a human and I sniff necks.

4

Only female necks mind you! A woman with a long neck is a feature to me!
