Just for grins, how many of us still have bibles laying around the residence?

I have four. Two go back several generations and are a gold mine of information for my geneology work. Two others are quite old.

It is my desire to get my hands on one at least 200 years old to see how much "editing"has been done over time to suit the political climate.

The only reason I keep mine is because it has a lot of little souvenirs in the pages; notes from college friends (I attended a Catholic university),cards from communions, funerals long, long ago...

Lol I only see them in motels- and I leave a message on the inside “ the greatest book of fairytales “

@Stargazer13 ahhhhhh the temptation is way to high - and I still don’t get it why they even put in motels ??

I have several bibles. To be honest, however, I find the bible such an odd collection of poorly translated books and letters, mash-ups of varied versions of stories, and countless contradictions that is hard to follow. I know many people read the whole thing cover to cover, alone, in churches, and in bible study groups, but I'm not sure how they are able to get through it.

I've got a couple kicking around along with a Qu'ran, some Hindu stuff, pagan bits, The Tao, etc etc it all helped me get to writing this post on here 🙂

I'm pretty sure I have one taking up space on one of the bookshelves with other assorted stuff

I have one. It was a gift from an Aunt at high school graduation.

I have 2.
I refer to them frequently.
I probably read more scripture than many purported Christians. Paradoxically, the Bible is still the best reference work for Atheists.

I have multiple bibles, a Quran, Book of Mormon, Torah, etc.

I don't have any, never had or will. No desire whatsoever to spend time on it. (Gee, spending time to type this on my phone seems like too much time wasted on the subject). I don't even read novels of any kind. I like to read facts not nonsense fiction. There are way more biographies to read than time I have left.

Much of fiction expresses deep truths about the human condition.

@FrankB38 If that works for you then by all means is fine with me. I am not interested in having a debate. I've just answer ronin73 question.

Never had one.

I have a couple. I also have a cyclopedia of mythology. Odd how the mythology book makes no mention of the Bible.

I don't think I have a bible.

I had a friend (died a few years ago at 94) that had quite a collection. Every edition had edits of the last and they all claim to be from "the original scrolls". The new easy to read bibles have changed the wording so much that the meaning is no longer the same. He had an Italian bible dating back several hundred years, problem is he did not know Italian. Many religions use the newer bibles to support their perversion of their religion. I would recommend obtaining a full concordance of the bible also, I have a Strong's exhaustive and it seems pretty good

I have 2 family bibles and a pentateuch & haftorahs. They all have a family history and I wouldn't think of getting rid of them.

I've got one sitting around in storage somewhere. It's a family heirloom, so it's one of the few physical books I kept around after switching over to Kindle.

A dusty one on top of the bookshelf from my confirmation

I cleared the house of them. I do own a copy of the Koran. It was a heartfelt gift from a former colleague, and that’s why I’ve kept it.

I have never believed in the bible, but it is kind of handy to have around, because it is the most influential book in the world and it is good to know what the crazies are thinking. There is a lot of really messed up crap in the bible, I'm glad most religious people are actually hypocrites and hardly read the thing, or the world would actually even be much worse.

3

I never owned one and I still don't. I do not anticipate getting one any time soon, or ever, for that matter.

None.
Never owned or read that particular manual for abuse.

3

I do, a big fat one, given to me by my eldest sister. Too big for a paper weight. I use it to prop up my alarm clock on my nightstand.

Sitting on the shelf next to me. I like to use it for when I see people quoting bible passages and I can look it up and see what the hell they are going on about.
