Why don't atheists like showing respect and kindness toward God believers?
Why don't God Believers like showing respect and kindness toward atheists?

Here's the bigger question:
Should they? Or want to?

I don't think I care very much for these assumptions as questions posts.

Atheists don't like showing respect and kindness (really?) for believers. Well, as an atheist, it depends on each believer I might meet. There's not a blanket policy. Also, I wouldn't just make a judgement based their belief. A lot of factors might apply. As for the reverse statement, well I think the same diversity applies.

It is I think truer to say that a lot of atheists don't care to show respect towards religion, and for good reasons. We are not obliged to, and decline to do so. Similarly, many believers display negative attitudes about atheism, I think because the growth of more strident atheism scares them, and the growing secularism in the west. But these are attitudes towards the positions and movements, not blanket attitudes to all individuals.

Kindness yes. Respect... Not always. Do you respect a person who consults rune stones for major decisions? Or expects a private jet? Or looks to a dubious holy book to guide their life?

2

Both should respect each other in a sense that none of them (both sides) have any right whatsoever to try to push their agenda unto the other.....until then, this question will remain

Respect and kindness are the default modes for all humanity. To live otherwise is to wallow in untrue, judgmental thoughts, thereby experiencing pain, anger, fear, loneliness, depression, poor health, stress, and early death. It takes a lot of hard work to create unhappiness but to gain happiness is as easy as flipping a switch.

But what the hell? Go ahead and divide up into opposing groups. With each lambast you’ll be rewarded with a little surge of pleasure as your victim mentality is reinforced. Neither side has the least idea of what they are talking about, but that doesn’t matter in the least. It’s not about truth and never was.

How do you define showing respect?

I love posts like these. I remember way back when in the 80's and we used to frequent chat rooms. Remember those? I'd be in a preferred ethnicity room and an antagonist would show up just to cause a stir and get everyone riled up. This looks like one of those posts. No offense man but it looks like you're a christian trying to cause a rabble. If not, pardon my ignorance.

I can't speak for others but I'm respectful to everybody irrespective of race, colour, creed etc. I respect a persons faith I just don't agree with it and/or the why.

I typically speak softly and try not to step on toes; however, that said..... I can't respect someone's blatant ignorant stupidity worshipping the flying spaghetti monster!!!!

I believe that science has proved beyond a reasonable doubt that a supreme invisible super spirit just doesn't exist what so ever, not even in the realm of any possibility......sorry, it's science!!!!!

I treat Christians respectfully, and have been an atheist since age 13. If I didn't like Christians, I'd have no friends.

The only exception is Jehovah's Witnesses who knock on my door. I have four pat sentences in my back pocket:

  1. "I don't believe in an invisible being that resides somewhere beyond the clouds."

  2. "We are all atheists here" (waving grandly to include the entire neighborhood).

  3. "I stopped having imaginary friends at age four."

  4. "I don't believe in invisible beings like Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny."

This shuts them up. While they puzzle, I say goodbye and shut the door.

Just tell them you are certain you are not interested and to please put them on their No List, you won't have to deal with them calling on you again. The Mormons I can't help you with and the Hare Krishnas are usually only found at airports.

Most of this crap doesn't even matter, it's all in your mind. You are the only on that really cares about YOU!!! Once you ask somebody to tell you what they think God is, you are dead. The Universe just keeps on spinning. We are just little bacteria in the whole thing. You are responsible FOR YOUR LIFE AND MIND.....you make your own purpose. Billy Grahm and all them assholes are just making a living off the lost idiots. Give my your money, or go to hell......that's all it is with most organized religions. Billy Grahm was worth 23 million dollars......like 40 years ago......what a hypocrit.....and he's closer to God?? Right. They are businesses. My God is free......and most of the time.......I dont' even know if there is a real "GOD"....or whatever? Who's running the show??

The government is running the show not a god and we need atheists to come together and fight against Christianity please join P.A.T.C.H. People Against The Christian Hypocrites and give us your opinion on how to change religious government.

@IpraiseMYSELF not really......the billionaires (rich people) are running the show. it's a game of greed and power. It's been that way since the beginning. I'm not very optimistic about the future. I would NOT want to be young again.

This Atheist does not care what anyone else believes...I don't need or want your prayers or blessings...that is almost always the first thing out of the mouths of godbots when they discover you don't believe.."I'll pray for you" "god bless you"....THAT is disrespectful and arrogant. I just don't ever see or hear Atheists behaving that way unless you start that nonsense

The problem is atheists do not stick up for each other but different religions will all stand up against atheists. You claim that you do not care what anyone believes until the country is run by religion and then you will care!

1

You got the wrong way round , either way it dose not make sense

We should always respect others beliefs. The problem I have is I am a passionate person and I wear my emotions in my sleeve which makes me come off as intolerant or argumentative.

I refuse to respect any belief that is geared towards controlling me or my body or my life

0

I don't actually know any atheists who disrespect anothers belief system and i have never ever had any unkindness shown towards me for being godless.

Egocentric.

Well 1st your question should be most/some atheists, you don't want to put us all in one group, theres much diversity among us.
But as an atheist I have much respect for my Christian friends, they're the best people i know.

Strangely the highest class people I know are Atheists and Mormons. The two groups of people with the highest integrity.
