So, I have a friend who is theist. We don't discuss religion. Once, we exchanged two sentences, since we both know where the other stands on the issue.

I asked, in the face of all you know, how come you beleive this stuff? I got the most honest answer I've ever received. "It helps me sleep at night".

Anyone else have any similar kind of conversation?

I've recently begun studying Spiral Dynamics. It explains why people believe what they do and has allowed me to release a lot of irrational resentment I felt toward Traditional Christians. Life is just a growth process.

That's an interesting title, Spiritual Dynamics. Does it pretend that there is a spirit to be dynamic? Or is it try to explain hte psychology?

@Gregory It does rank various religious views including agnosticism and that's why I study it. But it also explains much about societal structures generally. Agnosticism receives a much higher rank then Evangelical or Traditional Christianity by the way. That's why I joined this group.

Yes, and if that works for him, great. That type of religiosity is less offensive to me than fanaticism. I doubt your friend is going to blow up a mosque, synagogue or church.

We live in a universe that goes to great lengths to create life, and even greater lengths to destroy it. It's a paradox that all of us must live with, like it or not.
