It would have to be Al Green in England, 1974. Amazing. So long ago
Jerry Lee Lewis, around 1971 or so. I saw Dylan and The Band in 74, that was fun. Many more since
The Doobie Brothers in 1970, I was seven years old… My uncle snuck me and my sister out of my mothers opera in a smaller hall in the Lincoln Center complex, maybe it was Avery Fisher Hall?… I’m not sure anymore, because I was seven ...and in to see the Doobie Brothers at the bigger hall at Lincoln Center, my mom was pissed... my uncle was a cop so he just walked us in with his badge. My first whiff of weed and I remember the sea of blue jeans... I became a rock fan that day. At the champagne reception after my mothers event I went through a door that locked behind me and found my self on the stage floor with the Doobie Brothers packing the gear... now better understanding how things work I realize they were the roadies
Beatles 1965, saw Paul in 2008, 2012, and got tickets for Sept. 30 in Edmonton.
I was BORN AND RAISED with the Beatles. White Album, Sgt. Pepper and Revolver all on records provided me with a very happy childhood.
Big Mama Thornton, Bobby Blue Bland, and Mississippi John Hurt. Not a concert. A tiny little club in the rough part of Berkeley CA. 1965. Two high school friends and I were the only white people in the place. Actually, the audience totaled about 20. Blues was not hot at that time.
In what country?
The first US concert I attended was the Beach Boys, Lexington, KY, 1970, my freshman year of college.
The Carpenters at Universal Studios in 1971. I was in junior high.
Very first time the question asked? Nah.
Projekt Revolution 2007. That's at least my first Concert. First show was probably 2002.
Concert as opposed to gig? Metallica, '89 touring on ' ... And Justice for All'.
My parents took me to a lot of bluegrass concerts starting when I was very young (probably less than 1 year old), so I don't know.
Excluding local acts playing at a bar, my first rock concert was The Black Crowes, and my first rap/hip-hop was Digable Planets.
Boston, backed up by Sammy Hagar, in Vancouver, BC. At the time, most major concert tours either started or ended in Vancouver. And it was still general admission.
I don't really go to concerts so my first one was, I think, 2008. It was Lynyrd Skynyrd playing at Wild Adventures in Valdosta, GA. I knew of the band and a few of their songs, but wouldn't call myself a fan. It was just something my two brothers and I could do together. I don't think we even knew the band was there to play. We just went to the theme park then decided to stay and attend the concert that night.
However, I was not expecting to see all the Confederate flags scattered throughout the crowd and on the stage. It made me very uncomfortable the whole time I was there.
The Kinks......Bournemouth, England April 1968.
