It's not. I abide by the saying "live and let live". If someone has elected to believe in a higher power, an afterlife, heaven and hell, or Bigfoot, it is entirely their prerogative. In the same vein, I'd rather not have people attempt to convert me to their beliefs, so I say it as soon as someone drops the "Jesus is good and yada yada" line by gently informing them of my atheism and asking them to respect my personal lack of faith if they wish me to respect their beliefs. It doesn't always work, and has in fact made people try that much harder to guide me to Jesus, but at least I can say I made an effort.

It really isn't. It's just annoying when believers try to foist nonsense on you or justify their own assininity with vapient recitations of things other people have said in defense of their stupidity.

Thank you for asking this question ! I've seen some comments on this site that not only reek of intolerance, but direct venomous thoughts in the direction of any "believer". While I certainly have seen some holy rollers (as we all likely have), that are obnoxious and invasive to the extreme, most I've been around, are not.

Realistically faith isn't broken by an external influence. When you challenge someone's faith they fall back on the defense mechanisms they've been indoctrinated to use. Faith can only be overcome when the believer comes to his/ her own realization of its absurdity.

As for the reasons why eliminating faith would be desirable, the other posts here provide adequate answers.

It is only justified if that person is using their beliefs to somehow force you to do something you don't want to do. But there are also people - analogous to missionaries -- that believe a person will be happier once they realize their belief system is false. Call it Atheist Evangelism. I also believe that if there were more atheist evangelism such that our society would be transformed from faith-based to reason-based, our world would be a much better place for all.

It shouldn't be. To each their own, as long as nobody tries attack or change my beliefs, or lack thereof; I won't do such to them.

The problem is that religions promote the idea that they know "the truth". Hence, even if they are nice people, they are usually going to push their beliefs on others either directly or subtly. If we take acception to that we are considered rude and militant. I don't buy the premise of the question.

I do not have to break your faith. I was once a person of faith but have come to see the fallacy in that. People of faith are taught by their religion to make converts. This means they nag me to death constantly in ways of bringing up their god again. Maybe I am just "angry at him" they say. Yes, it is true. I'm as angry at god as I am at the Easter Bunny.
The believer has a different logic than you do. To them their bible is logical. The very idea is a big laugh. They think we take "logic lessons" or courses. It's pretty simple to me actually. They have no problems with the resurrection as a thing that god allowed ONCE. Why can I not believe this also? There is no evidence and it isn't logical. By the time we get to questions like what would I accept as evidence it is so plain they had their minds made up in advance.
A resurrection that god allowed ONCE. Look around you and read other scriptures. The world is full of accounts of ressurection. It's all myth.

That does not sound like something I am interested in doing! My daughter is so deep into her religion and conspiracy theories and it hurts me, deeply! However, I will not try and break her stance on her faith or anything else! I cannot do much now, but be available should she need me...even as my heart breaks!

It's not it is just fun. Albeit admittedly it does get a tiny bit boring over time however thanks to ignorant Atheist who want a religion desperately we have SJWs who put all other religions to shame and even flat earthers to an extent. It isa important to foster critical thinking.. Breaking one's faith is something which can only be accomplished by the person himself or herself.
