Agnostics and atheists seem to want to believe that because they eschew religion, they are somehow more inclined to be critical thinkers. I think the bullshit here, pretty well proves otherwise.

"To care selflessly", I think is one of the most destructive , self-demeaning, religious ideas ever fostered.......it is the giving away of self-esteem, responsibility, and self-worth.

NYT article: democratic controlled counties have the WORST china-19 infections. They have created the CRISIS with their stay-at-home insanity.

Martial-Law, and tyranny, always results in misery.

Ummm, that is because NY is skewing the numbers right now, Rest assured, Texas & other red states will very soon make NY look like a paradise.
And since when is the equivalent of "no shirt, no shoes, [no mask] no service" = to martial law?

Hes 1 of many reasons I don't watch or try too avoid the news now its beyond absurd

Yes he is..

The guy who was wrong about just about everything? There is no such thing as being selfless. Another goofy statement.

Absolutely agree with you sir.
Fauci is an imbecile, a coward, and a profiteer with only one thing on his mind...making a bigger profit...
Doctors in this country, especially doctors in well populated parts of this country...earn an average of 5 million dollars a year, Fauci is top of the heap financially...and now will be more than set for the next couple forty or fifty years...he wouldn't know a selfless act if it bit him in the arse.

@Alchemy what "profit"? Where? Cite something! And $5,000,00O/yr?????? Or STFU!

@AnneWimsey
I have, spent the last hour trying to respond to your question, and twice a glitch made it all vanish. I am now frustrated, impatient, and bored beyond measure with this convo...please forgive the stunted reply:

a. 5 was typo, it should have read 3...as to citations...These figurs came from my own crude math skills but were confirmed by a head administrator of my local hospital and my son - a brilliant mathematician.

b. Doctors that I have seen in my area charge over 300 dollars for a ten minute in office visit. This figure is gross, by every definition of the word, but does not cover such things as blood draws, biopsies, or pretty much any actual service provided other than script writing. I am in a well populated part of the US of A. Doctors in the Dakotas, etc probably earn less, but that is a guess.

so,

300/10 minutes x 6 = 60 minutes at 1800.
1800/hour x 8 = 14,400 a day.
14,400/day x 20 days = 288,000 per month.
288,000/month x 12 = 3,456,000 a year.

To come up with a figure closure to actual my son and the admin suggested the following information would be needed:

kickback numbers from tests ordered, referrals given, and "incentives" insurance providers and pharmaceutical companies give.
and investment income from real estate, stocks, and bonds.

Money begets money...

ya'll wanna know who's in charge of the oligarchy this country has dissolved into...follow the money.

@AnneWimsey as to the profiteering comment...yall realize that vaccines, etc in the US of A are patented and sold at an obscene profit, right?

@AnneWimsey also, when I was a child both laws and ethics prevented this whole stream:

kickback numbers from tests ordered, referrals given, and "incentives" insurance providers and pharmaceutical companies give and investment income from said insurance and pharmaceutical companies.

but Nixon on his way out of office as a result of impeachment, signed a bill as a favor to his crony named Kaiser - as in Kaiser Permanente - named the HMO act...you can google that if you feel the need.

@Alchemy the patent is the only reason companies invest millions to develop them, you realize that, right?

@Alchemy pay office rent, several employees, (billing people, PA,nurse, usually several of them)malpractice insurance......not even close to 5 million, using your figures........

@AnneWimsey, I didnt say it was take home...my implication was that each doctor in this country is the equivalent of a small but greedy biz...and guess what, as an owner/operator of my own biz for 20 years that carried 25 to 30 employees, I know EXACTLY what their expenses are likely to be:

office rent: less 1000
nurse: 20 to 25 an hour = 4k a month.
office support staff mostly earn way less than nurses...except for the accounting staff...and in this economy...more than likely they actually earn a little less than the nursing staff.
even if there is a fulltime staff of say 6 people, we are talking all expenses, probably less than 25% of his gross.

the doc is still taking home more than 2 mil a year. now, based on your answers, I would bet you are a believer in our medical system...go on with your bad self...be loud and proud!

life expecatancy has dropped by 10 years in the last 40 across the US,
most people cannot afford to go to the doctor and stats for almost every metric say we have the worst medical care at the highest prices in the entire world.

Go ahead, put your faith in an industry that sent most of the prescription drug manufacturing to China so THAT government can slowly feed us poison AT a profit and our own expense. oh, and our vaccines come from there too...costing not but US pennies to produce...and giving the Communist Regime there ample opportunity to poison our children.

Be proud of the system that has replaced the idea of worshipping a deity and it being responsible for your well being with the idea that a medical doctor is now sacrosanct and responsible for the same.

But oh, yes, those mega corps deserve all that money with zero accountability.

I am not pointing fingers at the Chinese people indiscriminately, btw, or at the "people" of China really at all...but at a totalitarian, inhumane, unethical government that currently holds most of the paper for this countries deficit...

@AnneWimsey

"the patent is the only reason companies invest millions to develop them, you realize that, right?"

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,
so you admit that greed rather than ethics or selflessness are the force at work in our medical industry. I am very appreciative of the concession.

I had hoped to meet a few like minded folks for intelligent discourse as I have to stay in bed attached to breathing equipment most of the time...due to the lung damage from SARS - Novel Corona...but this site is saturated to the max with believers in one sacred cow or another. I am so sad...

@Alchemy malpractice insurance is thousands per month. Around here office space is $2000-$2500. Plus going to first college then medical school, if a specialist, much longer, in any case at least 8 years, running up massive debt. You seem to conveniently ignore all this for your agenda. Oh, and kickbacks are illegal, not just more income.

@Alchemy ummm, CAPITALISM, which is by definition a greed based philosophy, yes.

It must be really difficult to try and remain calm and send messages of hope and honesty yet, at the same time, trying to avoid upsetting the POS who is probably looking for an excuse to dump him. Oh, he served under Obama. good enough, you're fired. I think even infants can behave better than that.

5

The irony in Fauci's call for selfless caring may be lost on many in this country who identify as Christians and insist on their right to do as they want in the name of freedom from tyranny, even if their selfish behavior imperils others. It would not be the first time that the secular humanist behaved more "Christlike" than the Christian.

Very kind and considerate

A decent human being, the likes of which are so often missing in public office.

Fauci for President in 2020!

No? He's not running? Damn. Why is it always just assholes who run?

it's the committees who choose the choices. the RNC and DNC are two sides of the same coin riding in the pocket of the rich. you can flip it all you want but it just don't make a whole lot of difference who kicks off.

@hankster The problem is the DNC just keeps picking losers. Joe F--cking Biden!? Puhleeze! They're utterly clueless.

@Sgt_Spanky Joke Biden is a lousy choice even if by some miracle he were to win the election. personally I don't believe in miracles.
but it almost doesn't matter because the influence held by corporations and the rich Etc has to firm a grip on Congress and the White House and probably the Supreme Court. please understand I would much rather have the joke as president than the joker we have now. Biden is only embarrassing in a Howdy Doody kind of way and he doesn't seem as proactively incompetent as the current dingbat. to think there is a very destructive button in Donnie's vicinity is a terror.

That same sentence has popped into my head o many occasion, if not just to piss off Trump. But then Trump would remove him.

2

And the idiot Trump is certainly not demonstrating that.

3

The USofA is a Xstian nation, how on Earth does Fauci expect these people to love one another and be selfless individuals? It goes completely against the way Xstian values are practiced in Amerika.

The USofA is not a Xstian nation. It is populated by a majority of Xtians but is considered a secular nation. I do agree with the rest of what you say.

@jlynn37 If it isn't yet then there are a lot of bat shit crazy Xstians working their asses off to make it so.

@Surfpirate Again, I agree with what you say.

@jlynn37 I'm not saying that the US is a theocracy, yet. It is a majority xstian country and so in the same way that Iran is a muslim nation, the US would be described as a xstian nation.

Too bad he's become the punching bag for the mental defectives from the alt-right
