None of this is surprising. It is the wedge that Trump and others have used in dividing us. The Jesus they want to see today is the driving out of money changers in the temple. Nobody cares to hear of the Jesus who fed the multitude.

They actually are also rejecting the Jesus who drove the money changers out of the temple, as well, because they have hitched their wagon to the Repub Party and also support corporations, big business and the wealthy, in their politics. The fact is, most evangelicals also buy into the whole prosperity gospel bullshit, where being wealthy is not only favored, but even worshipped, as a sign that someone is righteous and better than poorer people, because God made them rich, etc,, instead of them becoming rich thru inheritance or by screwing over and cheating their fellow humans..
