A Good Time is Guaranteed for None.

Everybody likes having a good time, but one person's good time can be another person's hell. My idea of a good time is aimlessly drifting across the water in a small sailboat with one or two friends, and talking about homespun philosophies.
What constitutes a good time for you?

Leaving on a well supplied pre-dawn road trip to anywhere with someone trustworthy and interesting 🙂

I was between wives and at a new age resort in Maine. I became friendly with a woman, and we decided to take out the sailboat for a ride on the lake. We were doing great, but then it was time to get back and the wind was against us. Each of us had thought the other knew how to sail. So I said, well, I guess we have to tack against the wind. I think I got that from TV. We spun around, the boat listed about 80 degrees, and we landed in the drink. We climbed back on, but then we had to break out the oars and row to shore. So I said "Are we having fun yet?" and she said "What's the matter, isn't this better than a good time?"

Hmm... "between wives". Now that sounds pretty cozy even without the other woman and the sailboat. 😉

Lols, tacking, zig zagging against the wind 🙂 It's been a while!

Being with someone/s I adore, in nature, with good food and probably alcohol...perfect.

Right now I'm trying Sangria Wine. It's not bad but I'm not a wine drinker either. If I get out the John R. Butler CD's I can laugh at religion and get mellow. If that don't work I'll just quit and eat supper.

Talking with people who are close to me, about anything, while listening to some good music.

8

A stormy day with loads of recordings to watch and a pizza to chew on while sitting in my chair with a blanket. I'm easy....lol.

8

Cooking something really good then enjoying it with a friend. Some of the best times I've ever had were cooking with my best friend.

8

Floating down a river with friends. Some beer. Some food. Maybe some weed. Just a day-long float, flatwater or whitewater.

7

Hiking and taking photos of birds. Body surfing the waves.

7

Gardening, going to the farmer's market, museum (art, natural history you name it), hanging out with my son and his fiance, drawing, music, BIG IDEAS.

6

Floating down the river in a canoe w/a drag anchor out, fishing for small mouth bass & crappie (aka dinner).

Meandering the aisles of a book store with hot coffee & money to spend.

Working in my yard, or garden or building things around the house.

Like sailing too-used to sail my ex-in'law's boat out of Gloucester, MA-where Wicked Tuna is filmed. Also like canoeing on the Saco River in Maine with 1000 of your closest friends-done it 3 times.

6

A leisurely bike ride, with a stop for coffee. Cooking food with friends and enjoying a meal. Interacting - not just watching a movie, or TV program ('cept maybe baseball, lol) - is what I enjoy.

5

Walk the halls of a museum deep in conversation. Letting the display change the subject at hand.
go canoe camping and portage, make camp, cook up a meal then light a campfire with only one match all in deep conversation and drink.
spend alone time watching hours of documentaries.
Drive for 8-12 hours on a straight highway deep in meditative thought.

Two cans of real root beer (almost impossible to get in the UK), the phone turned off, a good subbed not dubbed Japanese movie on the wide screen TV, my recliner chair and everybody and the dogs all out of the house for two hours.

Oh, Newark cafe does root beer, but I see you're a way from there 🙂 interesting choices

@girlwithsmiles There is one UK company makes it, I order from them, and sometimes in from the USA via amazon.
I got hooked years ago when the first McDonald's in the UK used to serve it.

Tearing up the streets and sidewalks of this town on my longboard--baking my shoulders brown, enjoying the sunshine and fresh air, scoping out the sights, seeing how the construction is coming along, checking the concert and seminar posters--eliciting reactions from onlookers that run the gamut from pornographically lustful to lynch-mobbingly hate-filled, and everything in between...

4

Sitting in a large pit sectional in the living room with a half-dozen friends smoking weed and explaining the universe

4

Cuddling on the couch watching a movie

4

river float sounds good.

@TheAstroChuck I used to canoe on the Ohio River which might be compared to biking on the expressway

@TheAstroChuck Kentucky

Getting out, doing something worthy to tell as story about later with me buds.

Spending a sunset on the boat dock out on the lake with tiki torches lit to keep the bugs at bay, marley torches lit to set the mind right, and sitting with a circle of musically gifted friends having converstions with our instruments while laughing about gig bloopers from the past.

Yesterday , spent the afternoon laughing , with a group of relatively new friends , at my Saturday afternoon , D & D game . Today , I'm going to see the new Laura Croft , Tomb Raider's movie , with a long time friend and neighbor , who's about to move away . End of the month , going to meet up with my relocated friend at Comicpalooza . In between , will be gardening in the backyard . Need to convert my scooter into a dragon . Hope to visit Lucky Land , which I've been wanting to do for over a year . At present , both cats are curled up sleeping with me .
