People forget that food stamps are a subsidy to big agriculture, not to help the poor. The USDA used to buy and store excess commodities to keep prices high enough to insure farms were profitable. When storage got too expensive, they hatched the deal to distribute the products like a magnanimous gesture.

S.N.A.P. is the current name for food stamps. Most people do not apply for supplemental food assistance program falsely assuming it is ONLY for poor people. Seniors with middle incomes QUALIFY. Maximum benefits were given to all participants since TrumpOLiNi mis-managed the Ft Dietrick&Wuhan biowars. The average single person benefit currently is nearly 100 dollars per month. SNAP EBT cards work at farmers markets, most stores and seeds/potted plants can be purchased thereby growing fresh food at home. Disabled people qualify with modest incomes. Save your cash to buy a hydrogen car ending your personal pollution of our planet

I grew up on that crap. Yes, we were poor. My dad was in the Air Force but we still struggled to make ends meet.

I remember going to the commissary and seeing a bunch of people that used food stamps. It shocked me the first time.
But your elected officials love you and are your humble servants that are at your beck and call, that's what democracy is all about, right?

@glennlab Are you sure you don't mean Evangelical Preachers? Politicians are good hearted and caring individuals who are making a civic contribution in order to try and make the world a better place for current and future generations. Well maybe just a small minority are like that but still there are a few apples in the barrel that haven't gone rotten yet.
