I never said it wouldn't eventually happen. What I did say, was that the Repubs, and their people on the SC, would never do it as long as they knew it would cost them most federal elections, the same as the civil rights laws of the 60s cost the Dem Party the South from then on in elections. But now that the Repubs have passed voter suppression laws in so many key states, they know they can still win elections there even if most people don't want to vote for them or their policies. So that's why they finally pulled the trigger on Roe, because they don't need to fairly win elections anymore in those states and can still win the WH and control DC, no matter how many women start voting against them in the backlash against this decision.

As they might say in chess, they were waiting until they were in position to checkmate before making their big move....
