I love using these arguments on asshole Libertarians, who live in their fantasy bubble of being their own island and never needing other people or government because they are greedy wannabees, as in wannabe rich, which is never gonna happen for them. Another thing they will never admit to.
A big reason why our politics are so fucked up is because since the 1980s, with the extreme transfer of wealth to the top 10% income classes, we now have a very large group of people in the top classes that no longer need services from the govt., so they demand the pols give them tax cuts along with service cuts that only affect the bottom 90% classes. These are the people, the multi-millionaires and the income groups of $250 K or more, that the pols actually listen to and serve in their policies, not the average voters. Of course, the same policies are supported by the wannabees who are still part of the bottom 90% of income groups. Talk about cutting your own throat, but they are too deluded to realize they will never make it into the top 10%.
A few years ago, I was sitting in an escrow office waiting for the sale of my house to be completed and my real estate agent started ranting about taxes, socialism and how the government fails at everything. I said the government is responsible for every minute of your day and is pretty successful or you’d be mired in chaos and corruption. Look out the window, if no government, we wouldn’t have streets, traffic lights, curbs, gutters sewers, building codes. We would be breathing dirty air and eating tainted food. Crime would run rampant and buildings burn without police and firefighters.
I went on for awhile but ended my rant, with if government failed and socialism was not used, you wouldn’t have a job, because there would be no courts, deeds, laws, or currency for real estate transactions and ownership and if you had spouted this bullshit to me before you sold my house, you wouldn’t have this job because I would have thought you were a complete dumb ass.
Socialism - a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.
Where is every citizen getting a dividend check from all the profits from all sales?
Where does every citizen have equal and full access to all the latest and greatest technologies. Such for example: every person has the latest and greatest smart phone?
