LINK Strikes and clashes as over 1 million protest against Macron's pension reform
Outside of George Floyd, it's impossible to imagine Americans coming together in the millions to protest anything. And 400 cops have been injured, but they've not killed any protesters yet. This reads like fiction, to me, as an American.
Raising the retirement age to 64 sounds so trivial, as an American. By the time I'm 67 or 70, my government will have already slipped it by the people that full benefits won't happen until age 75. 
I'm out at 62. They've raised the maximum income you can make on top of your benefit and that works for me. I'm not going to hang around beating myself up for corporate greed until I'm 70 damn years old. To each their own, but I'm already over it. No one told me at age 14 I'd still be a slave to my government into my late 60s/70s. There should've been full disclosure. I would've invented OnlyFans or something, had I known.

I don't even have anywhere near the background to understand why Macron feels it's necessary to slam this through, but strikes and protests on this level suggest it was a poorly thought out measure at best. Unions have been gutted in the US so this can't happen here. Hopefully it gets resolved.

When the pension age is only 62, yet people have a life expectancy of 85 years, and pensions are funded by those in work, the whole structure collapses unless either:-
- pension payments are reduced
or - the pension age is raised.
Option1 would be political suicide. Doing nothing will lead to bankruptcy, and political death.
That only leaves option 2, and riding it out.
Unfortunately, sometimes things are necessary and people refuse to understand why. A growing population (and like much of Europe it is from a large immigration number). It costs governments a lot more to assimilate people from outside the country with different cultures and languages. It is an unsustainable situation and the money has to come from somewhere.

We need to start doing this every fucking time either party fucks with S.S or Medicare/caid..in fact We need to do this for every gawddamn "benefit" or "Social Justice" law that's been put into law.. and fuck the " Moderates" that are holding us back..MLK didn't trust them, neither should we..
