I lost my husband 5 years ago. We were together for 51 years, married for 47. Am I still grieving? Yes. Am I able to function? Yes. Am I looking to replace him? No ... but finally, I'm considering the possibility of finding a new relationship. Tentatively, I joined this group. I looked at other , but found most had not been able to move on. They made me more depressed. Hopefully, this will be a positive experience. Hi y'all!

hi there paniteowl ! so sorry for your loss. i know it's difficult as i lost two to cancer. folks that have not been through this certainly do not understand the grieving process. there is no time limit to it but some handle it faster than others. it'll be four years coming up in a few months and i'm finally finding the courage to move on and restart my life as it seemed to end when his did. (the last one that died. the first one too but that was much longer ago). the first we were together for ten years and the last we were together for twenty four. i hope you can find your positives where ever it is you look for them.

I know I'll never find anyone like my late wife. She will always be the "gold standard". But different can be good too. This is a time for change - even though I never asked for it.

Hi, Good luck on your search. I hope you find someone. I don't know how to look for a relationship. I know I would love to find a gentleman caller. Someone to keep company with, have discussions, perhaps an outing here and there. I find so many have to advertise right out the gate that they want physical intimacy make me want to hide under a rock. The old I like hugs and cuddles line... well, of course, unless you've had some specific emotional trauma I think everyone does. can we just check it out and see if there is chemistry? Anyway, best wishes to you.

Thanks, Rosey ... I'm trying to overcome my fear/anxiety of developing a new relationship. I found myself in a situation about 2 years into my widowhood. At a reunion, a widower paid a lot of attention to me ... finally coming up to kiss me goodnight. What the hell? Scared the sh** out of me! LOL ... I knew right then I wasn't ready! Haven't gone to a reunion since!
