Last night my brother died. I didn't even know he was sick. I simply got a short email from his wife, telling me just that he passed after a brief illness. We hadn't spoke in years. No chance of that ever happening now. I wonder what went unsaid. I just received a reply to mine that she and my niece were glad to hear from me, that he was diagnosed in July. Didn't say what. He will be cremated and his ashes spread back east near his baseball teams that he loved. That's it... except that I'm crying now for the first time in years.
Thanks in advance for any sympathy, and please no one need say thoughts, prayers or sorry for my loss. I kinda lost him a long time ago anyway, but this still hurts a lot.

Wow! What an awful shock! For some reason, I expect my sibs (natural or by marriage) to last as long as I will. I am not sure we are ever ready for such news...

Keep crying. Those emotions are good for you. The pain will stop. Iā€™m sending you good energy and love. Maybe keeping in touch now is a good idea. Getting to know your niece might be fun. Good luck!

That must have been a shock for you.

@SACatWalker Grief is a learning process and a time for looking a parts of our life and if we could have done things different or better the key is not to get too hung up on these things or it can become mental torture. Think about as many good things as you can about your brother and let the emotions flow. BIG HUGS x
