CRISPR will open an opportunity that will be violently opposed by people that believe in demons.
It has to be humane and voluntary and transparent, not like the eugenics and mass forced sterilizations of the 1930's in the US which inspired Hitlers opinions and policies.
The Southern United States from the first white settlers has been the hell mouth of all things racist.
The difference now is that people conceal their racism from themselves and people are also worse about not hearing and seeing what they're hearing and seeing if it's uncomfortable.
Now everywhere seems to be like the old south I grew up in but somehow in stealth mode to anyone remotely afraid of being labeled a racist, and few but the most radicalized racist thinks of themselves as a racist.
You might know someone that will be one of the first generations of immortals, through technology and science they can be anything they want to be, but only if people can work together. Sad to think it may never happen due to lack of foresight into global conditions and warnings from science over the last fifty years.
