Social Distancing Alone Is Making Me Crave Physical Touch [self.com]

Too many times to count. The method, gentle reasoning. Plant the seeds of why God/s are made by mankind, not the other way around. In the case of Christians, there are so many instances of where the act of God is plain evil. As for Muslims, the Maxim gun always defeats Allah. Thus, with promises of victory, the mechanical chatter of machine guns cuts down the warriors of Islam time and time again.
Just read a few comments regarding Stephen Hawkins new book, and the only conclusion I came up with.

Nearly half of Americans believe the Bible should influence US laws - The Christian Post
Sofabeast comments on May 5, 2020:
Religions by their nature are all subjective. Even us thinkers are too. What if we are all wrong? That could be an interesting debate. Taking the USA as the main point. There is freedom of religion and the separation of religion and state. The political state is that of men (sorry ladies, not you originally, or Africans) and its success or failure is that of men. Important to this, is we are all under god and not equal to 'him'. Once people involve god in the running of state (think George III) then tyranny can result as anyone can claim 'god told me'. Given a Christian ideology, then what if it is the devil that has whispered in the ear of say Trump, who then said god put him here to lead you and the whole world... then all of the wobbly nonsense that follows with the likes of us ending up dead in pits. In the end, we all need to believe in something. We all worship our own gods, whether that be logic, scientific method, sports stars, celebrities, politicians, conspiring theories, gold, food mountains, invisible sky faeries or whatever.
I hate Daylight Savings time.
Sofabeast comments on Mar 10, 2019:
It is a stupid thing. Invented by a Liberal Member of Parliament (UK) to allow his son more daylight to get to school, and began implementation during the spring on 1918. If a different starting time is useful, then let it be the starting time of peoples work, not entire countries. In the USA the time changes on the 10th March, the UK changes a couple of weeks later. As a medical healthcare professional working with people with learning difficulties I can demonstrate an increase in incidents and problems during the clock times. My late wife saw similar in her profession as a Veterinary surgeon. So it's all bollocks and should be stopped!

Sofabeast comments on Jul 12, 2019:
The first option would push the super wealthy away from the USA - this happened in the UK during the late 1960s. This removes wealth. Basic income - this may have to become universal paid for by taxation of automation, as automation takes jobs (not Mexicans) Better education, this hasn't really been tried in the USA yet. Currently only the minimum level has been provided. A study demonstrated this back in the 1970s by Samuel Bowels & Herbert Gintis which supported that education in the USA is aimed at production of workers through directed education to fulfill the needs of the employers not the people.

To play 'gods' advocate. My client states that the laws of physics are his laws, and obey him, not the other way around. He should like remind the court that if wants a tree, he will have a tree of whatever type and purpose and will place it where he desires. The bible was written by people, and hence, mistakes have been made. If the words of my client were heard by humans, they would explode. My client would also like to enlighten the court that he is a very busy deity and he has many billions of other worlds and lifeforms to interfere with all at the same time. Have you any idea of how many lives end every second? It's massive! And they all want to sit next to him and have a chat, meet Jesus, Mohummed and all the others. Then there's all of his judgments about not just peoples lives, but every tiny virus to the greatest blue whale as well. Being omnipotent and omnipresent isn't easy. Is the court aware of what it is like to exist throughout all of time and space simultaneously? Well of course not, he didn't make the courts brains able to do that! God states he isn't responsible for typographical errors like making everything in six days. Days didn't exist then! And as for resting, impossible, someone has to keep the lights on. Forgetting where he put an asteroid then skiving off for a day could wipe out almost all life on a planet! God should also like it entered into record, that he isn't a he, she or them, but just is, and is everything including what you puny minded humans call time and space. God closes with if god doesn't like it, god will wipe it out and start again.... again.

Kids in cages, this isn't what the USA was founded on, nor what the generations who fought WWI & WWII laid their lives down for. As for tanks, this wouldn't be the first time. Thats a bummer. Happened to me many years ago. Lots of snogging and touching, then "You'll have to let Jezues into your heart"! Well, that relationship didn't last long. On the other side of the coin, I'm not likely to take to a god botherer either. At some point views on invisible friends crops up and bang! Tell me more of this bible belt. In the UK we are pretty free of such things, even in the outer isles the 'wee free kirks' have lost control of Sunday opening and ferries on 'the lords day'. As several have said already, your life journey is just starting and you are capable of thought. I became an atheist at school just before my fourteenth birthday back in 1976! Religious education is pretty hit and miss in the UK. I don't know your friends, but open their minds little by little with questions. I'm sure there are many people here who would help you with that. Don't be shy, wade in and enjoy a life free from religion.

So, this has opened the way for the Queen to demand his resignation from Parliament. He has lied to the Crown and got caught by the highest court in the land. As a PM, he cannot and should not stand. At best, he must resign with immediate effect - no waiting to come home from New York. At worse, beheading in the Tower, although really he must serve a considerable prison sentence. So, what next? Parliament must form a government of unity in a national crisis and remain sitting until it is over. As for me... YAY! I'm getting to employ my degree studies in the real world!

Sofabeast comments on Jun 29, 2020:
Indeed, but there seems to an ever growing number of angry people who see themselves as the center of the universe with their own perceived rights and needs the pinnacle. As you have said, the people accept the rule the government they voted for, or accepting the view of the greater should their candidate have lost. All thanks to John Locke's social compact principle. Individuals or worse still groups who refuse to mask up and keep apart risk the whole. I will venture that Americans must learn a far more socialist method of living. Indeed you need to gain at least one more powerful political party/movement and move to proportional representation in politics which hopefully drive the needs of the many over that of the few.

In the literal sense, we cannot feel what it is like to be another biological sex. We can only know what it is like to be ourselves. However, as science investigates deeper into what makes us work, then the evidence strongly indicates that around one two thousand is born being not monosexual, but somewhere in between male (us mutants) and female the baseline sex. For us older people it can be difficult to understand, but I find at least in Scotland there is greater understanding. For myself, I've done my qualifications in sex and gender and I could write another paper on it. It has been an interesting journey to enlightenment, the new understanding showing how environment factors at, around and prior to conception influence gender development. Drink, drugs, starvation, vegan diet, violence, pollution genetics all impact the physical and neurological sex and gender development and stabilisation.

Sadly the American system of justice is weighted in favour of $, lots and lots of $$$$! In cases such as this, a fair trial is not likely. For this to proceed the defence and prosecution councils must be fairly appointed to uncover the truth and act for both sides as a whole. A third council of scrutiny must oversee the defence and prosecution so that the trial is unbiased and not won or lost by the skills of council or tricks of law. From here there would be no appeals, just the sentencing of the guilty or acquittal if innocent. His wealth should be divided among the victims and he must serve a public sentence for his crimes to shown penance until he grows to weak to do so. From there to a common federal prison until death, then cremation and destruction of his remains. Once incarcerated, the following POTUSs will be renumbered with Biden becoming 45. Of course as high treason, a public hanging should be on cards too.

For myself as a very recent gun owner (I've owned guns since I was 18, and only gave them up very recently) I kept my muskets under tight control. It's what we do over here, and some unrest in the streets break out locally, my concern would be ensuring my guns were properly secure and ammunition kept away from said guns in case of break in. I would not be heading out as a vigilante looking to shoot people. As a European I just cannot get my head around his thoughts other than he was a psychopath looking for a grand shootout.

Sofabeast comments on Nov 4, 2021:
As promised, a longer reply... Although not limited just to males, it is us males who are more often the victims of biological drives. That is to pass on our genetic code. We develop schema to generate the perceived greatest chance of finding a mate. There are of course many different strategies to this, which we tend to base on what we learn from around the age of two, but these are also biased to our genetic makeup. From a male perspective here are some schemas which are common. One woman for life. Many women for life. One woman for now. Many women for now. One woman for life and others for now and again. One woman for as long as she can make babies, then trade in for a new one. Short term love, then move on. Short term love, then move on, but keep coming back 'cos you'll always be mine, y'hear bitch! No, no I love you... Cuckoo - mate and be gone. African-American in the USA tend to strongly follow the cuckoo or many women for now which has become a multi-generational social norm. We men can change, but that depends on the woman we are with. We will always have sudden urges to smash in the skull of a rival or lock our love away. It was in a foxhole in north Africa during WWII, that gunner Len Rowley started to become an atheist, after flattening an Italian town which the Germans had left the night before, he could not believe in god moving in mysterious ways allowing his howitzer battery to unleash hell on earth onto the innocent. In the closing weeks of 1945, he bulldozed the dead bodies of Jews and others who were designated as sub-human into pits to prevent the spread of Typhoid amongst the weakened survivors of Bergen Belsen. These were gods chosen people that the NAZIs had tried to exterminate, and god let them do it. War is a matter for men regardless of what is on your flags, medals, currency or belt buckles. And the religion is employed as a tool to make war, to make others less human and easier to kill. The Christian statements are subjective. I've read chunks of the bible and the more I read, the stronger my atheism embeds itself.
Please criticize my logic .

There are too many emotions involved in Brexit. Cold hard logic producing intelligent conclusions has been ignored. Will the UK be better off with Theresa May's deal or WTO rules? It has to be her deal since the English people decided to take the UK out of the EU. I would rather that the 2016 referendum was seen as being purely advisory. Then the government would seek to firstly build a coalition of unity involving all parties to produce consensus on the options for the UK. Once they have been explored they would be scrutinised by parliament who would produce a selection of final choices for the people to vote on. In the primary and secondary campaigns a non-political group must be used to cross-check the facts. That way the NHS bus would have been outed as a lie and those spouting it as facts could be exposed liars.

As a child back in the late 60s, we were encouraged to pray for the starving children of Biafra. So like a good little Christian, I did, they died. Why did God do that? I began to question if there was a God. I'm sure you all know that I worked out the truth.
Hope you all have a braw Burns Night tonight….

A very muted one thanks, due to being at work. We did manage a sober evening with a cheap ready cooked haggis dinners shared, while our service used enjoyed fried onions and Polish hotdogs.

Hi beautiful, I am a key support work for difficult cases of adults with autism, I work in Scotland and have a daughter who lives with me..... Well the information is on my biography hahaha. Like this fellow, my wife is also dead thanks to a brain tumour. When writing about myself I simply cannot capitalise 'i'. I do live very near to the North Sea oil fields and around 50% of the UK's natural gas comes ashore about 9 miles away. Unlike that person, I am not looking gain access to your funds, although should we ever meet, then if you were to offer to pay for a cuppa, then I would not turn it down. As for citizenship, I am British. And handsome - well that is subjective and being single, perhaps I'm not. Well done for getting rid of a scammer.

Dangerous times for America. I see the whole affair as a massive version of the experiments of Zimbardo and Milgram mixed with this quote from 'Men in Black'. " A person is smart, people are dumb panicky creatures".

I drive a 2004 Hyundai 1.1ltr Getz 2 door. I increase its worth each time I fuel it up to the value of how much petrol I put in it! On Friday I was almost squashed by a Toyota Hylux when it was parked by a rather arrogant fellow who may have been compensating for a perceived lack in his trouser-snake department. His must have been feeling jealous of mine and my tiny car! Somewhat supportive of the University of Nevada's statement.

I agree with you. We could really do with Brexshit put on hold for 12 months. Elect our MEPs then have a general election with Brexshit at its heart. Effectively a second referendum via the ballot box. Some MPs need to be excluded from standing ever again. Boris, Gove, May, Corbyn, and Reese-Mogg. Once we a have a new government, then they must act together and decide on what choices for Brexshit are available. This must include what the EU will accept too. Then the choices will be put to the people for a final say. As this campaign proceeds an objective body must check the facts being touted. If like last time there is a blatant lie splashed on a bus, then this must be made plain to the public and those who spout the untruths will be branded as liars to the people, and will be removed from further campaigning.

As part of my job, I attend an evangelical American style church around twice a month (I'm a support worker for adults with special needs) I will say, that if I were a Christian, I'd try to go that way, but I'm not. All it does is reinforce how silly the whole thing is. As a student of social sciences I love people watching. Great for putting some perspective on the subjects of my studies. To the point, they are a money making venture, but being in Scotland, it's hard for religious groups to rake it in in the same way as they do in Americas bible belt, the collection bucket is handed around at least twice per service. There is power and authority in what they do. After all, the congregation are the sheep, that's what they are called and socialised into being. The pasters are the tenders of the flock and god is the shepherd. Well what does a shepherd do? Fattens up the sheep for fleecing and slaughter, then the more you have the more profit you make - or prophet? Although the church leaders treat me with civility, I am still the enemy
