SpikeTalon replies on Apr 25, 2020:
@Flowerwall It's interesting to note that most of the states with the highest number of documented cases of infection are states that lean to the left politically speaking and that of which a majority of the citizens are not out protesting, yet that didn't minimize new infection cases. Point is, we should be questioning just how effective these lockdown measures really are. We shouldn't arrive to any conclusion absent of evidence. I also suspect that if most of those protesters were to be tested and the results negative, people would still be complaining that they are ignoring government orders, because people need something to complain about. Fear can be a powerful motivator, and fear is certainly in play in regards to the lockdown. Also keep in mind quite a few of those protesting just want to go back to work in order to support their families, as they don't fancy living off of government stimulus checks. It's never bad to question things.

I responded to her comment and cited sources that debunked her claims, and a day later I saw my post had been taken down. I know what that means, someone flagged my post and I know who was responsible. A few days later after that I did another post about gun rights and she left a comment again except this time immediately blocked me after commenting so I couldn't reply. As this is a site for atheists and skeptics, I take it most people on here believe there should always be some sort of evidence required first before arriving to any conclusions. With that said, I have a problem with those condemning others who choose to ignore the quarantine orders, and their argument is that those ignoring such are putting everyone else at risk, but I ask what strong evidence is there that the "covidiots" are actually doing just that? There should be some sort of hard evidence presented first that they tested positive for Covid-19, if not or they already tested negative for the disease I can't help but think those complaining have no solid basis for their complaints. Think about it... You tried MiddleWay, but don't think your concern was realized by many others though. I could cite another example demonstrating the hypocrisy of those who disagreed with you, but the point I had in mind would stir up too much controversy for a public thread though. I wonder if Peter Dinklage would be disappointed that you didn't dedicate the song to him?

SpikeTalon comments on Mar 19, 2020:
How about Libertarian? Not that I have anything against voluntaryism or anarchism.
SpikeTalon replies on Mar 20, 2020:
@p-nullifidian The one fundamental rule in Libertarianism is do not do anything to impede on others. Your neighbor sounded like an inconsiderate jerk, and not a true Libertarian. Anarchist may be another term to describe such behavior, and I don't subscribe to that system (if I dare call it such). Collectivism never appealed to me much. Cooperation among everyone is key, but I do understand your concern though.
Okay, so there is always the Atheist vs.
richiegtt comments on Mar 10, 2020:
Agnostic or Atheist ? I don’t give a shit about labels .Just more bullshit to divide people so one group can criticize the other ,which I have seen once in awhile over two years here .
SpikeTalon replies on Mar 20, 2020:
You're right about that Rich, and no shortage of "ists", "ives" and "isms" in this world all meant to divide us.

@VeronikaAnnJ Yeah I noticed some of the absurd comments your one public post received from some unhinged left wingers. This group is a nice retreat to sanity. I wasn't always conservative either, I come from a long line of registered Democrats and as a youth I shared in the political views of my parents. Eventually though after doing enough research on the topic I abandoned those views in favor of a more rational one. With that said, my views aren't far right, as the best word to describe my political views is Libertarian. Glad you joined this group.

I also host a pro 2A group on the other site, that one is called The 2A Sanctuary. Can you imagine if I named this group that? Man, the gun control fanatics would totally lose it. Spike, my Cuban friend couldn't help to break into tears when she saw the empty shelves; they reminded her of her Cuban odyssey. Do you think this CV19 is not only man made but, also, a way to cover up corruption, reduce population, submit people to a life not far from the old feudalist ways?
SpikeTalon replies on Mar 16, 2020:
It certainly makes me suspicious, and knowing how the political left tends to drone on about population control it wouldn't surprise me if Covid-19 was engineered to bring about enough chaos in which to push a socialist agenda. Or at the least experiment to see how the population reacts when socialist policies are enacted in the name of what would be best for society as a whole, like a litmus test so to speak. I've still been hearing around that within the next three or so days martial law will be declared and the government will be granted the authority to takeover certain institutions, but not sure if that's just fear mongering or if there really is more going on behind the scenes that the public does not know about.
First climate change was turned into partisan issue, and now we have Covid 19 / Coronavirus?
SpikeTalon comments on Mar 16, 2020:
I can't help but wonder just how accurate those polls truly are? If they happen to be so, concerning it is then.

@p-nullifidian Doubt indeed. I try hard to fight it, but have gotten burned too many times before. I agree, epidemics/pandemics have zero regard for human politics.

SpikeTalon replies on Mar 15, 2020:
@Petter Back in 1918 technology was limited and people didn't travel to other countries as often, and today if something like that were to originate in the US I don't doubt they would do what they can to help other countries if the disease spread out. The US gives aid money to quite a few countries, namely Israel, much to my dismay. You cannot reasonably compare the two scenarios as the timeframe between them is too vast. China isn't helping others because they are good people. The measures the US took in 1918 most certainly benefitted other countries, and was alot better than doing absolutely nothing at all.
