I have a desire to flee to Canada. I just don't see that as a realistic solution...

Something I heard recently made a lot of sense: Instead of feeling frustrated because you cannot get through to your Trump supporter friends, put your effort toward convincing people to register and vote. We must get rid of GOP control of Congress before anything will change.

I like the way you choose to deal the situation.

It is mind boggling. Is there an award for this? He is the most and the biggest.Whoever won this election I knew we were up for endless investigations and distractions from everything except the important business at hand

8 years of Obama and not one scandal... and they accused him of every crime in the book. One year of Trump and nothing but lies, scandals and embarrassment for this country. He's lucky he was born rich or he'd be living in a refrigerator box under Times Square.

Yeah, we went through 8 years of propaganda! Who cried "fake news"? Obama took it in stride!

Lol

@TheresaReid2 Name one that proved to be true

@TheresaReid2 Try listening to some real news.

He has always been a shady business person. He has engaged in moblike business: money laundering, evasion of taxes, not paying vendors before you even look at all his Russian/Ukraine connections. Now he is obstructing justice in trying to prevent Mueller's probe into his collusion or treason coordinating with Putin. Is there a wonder this POS is in trouble? This morning his lies and denials on the White House Lawn show a dictator emerging-Herr Trump.

Just watch Trump walk away from all this. He has money, he can hire the best lawyers. Nothing to do with justice - just a matter of how much money you have. Has it ever been any other way?

And if people are simplistic & dumb enough to support him what can you do.
I think it's called democracy.

I fear you're right, and hope you're wrong

4

Hell, i have seldom heard of Anyone so shady!

The difference between this guy and nixon is we didn't know he was a crook before elected...

@TheGreatShadow you mean Nixon, right?

@AnneWimsey Yep. Don't capitalize certain names.

@AnneWimsey That is how I read it.

When conservatives started saying "greed is good", that was the beginning of a lack of concern for standards and ethics. All that mattered to people was getting rich, not how you got rich.

On top of this his supporters keep on lying for him. A man I went to school with is a big Trump supporter and he told me yesterday that we are starting to produce our own steel again and with good results. He says it's because of the tarriffs. He went on to tell me that 2 or 3 new coal mines have also opened up. When I pressed for details and locations he simply changed the subject.
This is the nature of Trump supporters and my friend is a big time involved Republican.

Yeah, and he lost contracts for grain to be exported! China has a bad rep for ripping us off! Look up the Syngenda lawsuite. No Mexico won't import corn, and what they have, they are exporting to other countries! That has to do with his egotistical wall! Mexico is not paying for the wall! The last few years grain farmers have had a hard time breaking even. This exasterbates all this! He's also pissed off about half the world! Countries that have had no beef with us for years, he is making mad!

You're right. They can never support their comments. All they believe is what Fox News tells them. It's like Stockholm Syndrome

@TheGreatShadow Something tht was of concern to democrats during the Bush years, was how much money ws borrowed from China to pay for the two wars. It was pointed out at the time, that China holding so much U.S. debt could easily crash our economy by putting (or rather dumping) the debt they hold, back onto the markets, which would greatly devalue the dollar and cause massive inflation.

I recalled all this when they announced this morning (6-15-2018) the actual imposition of all the new tariffs (no longer just threats) on goods produced in China.

1

Why don't you shoot him?

Terrible thing to say. You NEVER point the business end of a barrel unless if you are in direct threat!!!

@TheGreatShadow I have a dark sense of humour that clearly most can't appreciate

There are too many gun laws in the US, nobody can get their hand on a weapon to do the job. 😉 I would say that Trump constitutes a clear and present danger to all life on this planet so long as he has access to the nuclear football.

@MsDemeanour I appreciate it... and I caught that one immediately! 🙂

Some of us are secretly praying for another mentally deranged person to come along. You just never know.

gladly im fixing my hover round and getting extra batteries for the trip

@MsDemeanour There are soem things in which it is never appropriate to joke about.

BTW, just posting that could easily have gotten you onto an NSA watch list.

@snytiger6 Absolutely everything is open to humour. People have their individual limits to what they find acceptable or offensive but it's not up to you to judge what I find funny. Nor is it my business what you find funny.

And I don't give a flying fuck about the NSA since I have as much interest in holidaying in the USA as I do in soaking up the sun in Syria.

Actually I have changed my mind about that (USA not Syria) and it's because the people I've seen posting here. I realise I have held a stereotype of the average American that is less than appealing and I'm sorry for that. There is a bunch of us here, humanists, that are united despite borders, in fact our link is stronger than nationalism. I think we should all meet in New Zealand and have our own conference/ party. We would be bigger and more zealous than the Billy Graham campaigns. Who's with me?

2

You have never met ex president Jacob Zuma from SA, have you ?

And your point is...?

@TheoryNumber3
Being prosecuted for fraud in SA's arms deal and state capture. Over 700 charges against him. Is it not reported in thd news there ?

I think it was said in reference to U.S. presidents... although Trump could easily compete with a lto of third world presidents for lies and corruption. He woudl nto win, because the constitution (mostly) protects us form people like him. However i do think he'd get honorable mention in such a competition.

@snytiger6
We have an excellent constitution as well, but that means nothing if greedy politicians and the general public don't follow it ?

Don't bang your head against a wall. Stay active.

Work towards getting your friends and family engaged and to the voting booth in November. Then again in 2020. Help tie Trumps hands in November and then send him packing back to Trump Tower in 2020

Unfortunately, most of my friends and family still support him. They won't listen to reason. I've signed numerous petitions. Nothing has happened so far. I hope he gets kicked out, or resigns before 2020.

@TheGreatShadow

No wonder you're banging your head against a wall. Don't waste your time with those types of individuals. They're a lost cause.

Focus your energy on those whom you can reach. Work on energizing the individuals who sat out the 2016 election or who voted for Trump because they bought in to the scam that he's a Washington outsider and are now regretting their decision.

Trump's hard core supporters, those who would still support him even if he performed the ritual sacrificed of a child to his money god on prime time tv, make up about 20 to 30 percent of the population. They only matter if everybody else stays complacent like they did in 2016. Your job is to make sure that never happens again. Not in November. Not in 2020. Not ever.

@webbew1 You hit the nail on the head! It has nothing to do with Republican vs Democrat, or anything. I'm hardly ever on FB because almost ANY time I make a point, someone gets offended! But the Left Liberal is the "snowflake"? I've had people I've known for 20+ years block and delete me. Some of these tools have said "you need to go to YouTube". Well, if I have a video of someone saying something, that's significant. I can post articles from credible news sources. If it's not from fox they scream "FAKE NEWS". Fox has even called his ass out. I also get links to some unknown site as "proof". I can make my own site for like $20, and make up whatever I want! Someone somewhere will believe it. Ignorance is simply not knowing. Stupidity is having the ability to learn, and not learning.

@TheGreatShadow Oh but we who follow the real news, such as Rachel Maddow, know differently. Mueller has got so much information and continues to go deeper. Hell look at the number of people now having pleaded guilty and willing to talk. Yes Trump is going to go but not through impeachment , rather resignation. Impeaching will leave us with Pence and that is not even entertaining. We need to invalidate the entire administration. And we are about to do this

@EMC2 If there was a Russian probe, I think everyone he appointed will be kicked out. Not 100%. But, never saw anything like this.

@TheGreatShadow Sorry to hear about your family. Must make holidays dicey!

@LucyLoohoo Bloody right it is! Bow your head for prayer. I mention one little thing and I am the bain of society! My brother-in-law, and my dad are the only people that give me a break!

@TheGreatShadow Yeah, when it coem sto Trump supporters, I think Mark Twain had an appropriate quote, "It is much easier to fool a man than to convince a man that he has been fooled."

EVen afte the stock market crash of 1929, it took 3 more years of things getting even worse, before many people changed their minds about supporting Hoover.

@EMC2 I so hope you're right!

4

Yup. I try to avoid the news as much as possible since it ties my stomach into knots. I feel like I've blundered into some weird evil alternate universe.

Yeah, I feel like i"m living through an "Alice In Wonderland" type of universe. The mad have taken over and are running things.
