I have many friends and family of different religions. It doesn't matter about me being an atheist, its about respect.

One of the things that I have found about beliefs is that Christanity was never really pushed onto most of us back then. Now it could have been the lack of knowlege or not having the internet or so. But it rarely ever came up. The world that I lived in was more about Science, global envirement, polution, Scientific endevors and such.

Over the years I've seen the decline of that way of thinking. I don't have the words to my dismay that I feel about that fact.

I had it lucky. Back when I was in High School, the bus that I took had an 8 track to play music. Me and a few of my friends got them to play Black Sabbath master of reality. That was more than cool.

I agree that this community can benefit from stories like this although I have none. She may have been crossing a line in some people's minds but she wasn't seemingly trying to indoctrinate anyone, just listen to music and she unfortunately has some really bad taste. Either way, if your belief system is fragile enough that the music of a school bus driver can break your grip, you've got bigger problems to address.

Yeah, most Christians are nice people. But she (and now you too) work for a public entity (I assume). She and you are representing the public school district. Xian music on the bus would be okay for a private, Christian school but not a public one. That's showing favoritism to Christianity. Many children on the bus might not be Christian. It violates the wall of separation.

Yes I had to go there. A friend put a NWA CD in their player! They accidentally played it! How many catholics does it take to get a CD out? 3. That is a sweet story and I admire your openness to her and her beliefs. Unfortunately I do not have that sense of fellowship from religious folks...perhaps my experiences have not been with non judgemental types as this lady was....thanks for sharing that.

I have mixed feelings about this. She may be a nice old lady, but broadcasting your belief system to unwilling listeners is inappropriate. I was with a volunteer group for a while, and at the annual appreciation dinner they asked us all to pray. Made me angry since it was a secular group and there was no reason for it. Just my opinion.

I once had a friend that I adored! She had 2 children that I kept up with from Ga as they lived in Massachusetts. It was all great, but as her children got around school age, she started pushing her Seventh Day Adventist faith. She home schooled her children and her letters became more and more pushing me toward her beliefs. When I responded...and back then it was from my own questioning Christian position...she would inform me that I was going to hell! I had to give up contact with that lovely family, because my character no longer mattered to her...I had to buy into her idea of god and her religion! Her letters were filled with scripture trying to convert me! I felt like a non-person in her eyes! I hurt from the loss of that friendship for a long time!

Would you venture a comment as to whether you would think this woman would have been equally as good a human if there were no jeebus?
