I am not stalking you, I am not even looking at your profile... I just accidentally hovered.
Hovering, seems so creepy doesn't it?

I think it’s a given that folks of all sorts will look at your profile and photos. We are here in search of community and fellowship and that is naturally part of the process. I, for one am honored by those taking a peep at my kinda lame profile, especially by those who follow me anyway. smile001.gif

It's a very common feature in the blogging/debating community, and most people don't get creeped out if someone has viewed their mini bio. Perhaps the reason it comes across as creepy to some people here is due to the fact that it's also a dating site? I accidentally hover over people many times a day. It's nearly impossible not to. But I also like having the option, which is why I haven't turned it off.

What doesn't kill you, gives you a lot of unhealthy coping mechanisms and a sick twisted sense of humor.

Sometimes my cat knocks the mouse and I hover.

Sometimes my hand wanders and I hover.

Sometimes I deliberately hover to see age or gender.... but I'm not being a stalker... Really! It's just more information about how to relate to someone. smile009.gif

RavenCT Level 9 July 24, 2018

@Akfishlady Yup I don't even check who hovered on me. I know they find out I'm here for Community. smile009.gif

"I just don't need all those damn notifications."

@Akfishlady Go to settings and turn off "Include people who viewed your mini profile popup in "Who viewed me"?"

you can turn it off.

hankster Level 9 July 23, 2018

Yep... I turned mine off. But I still receive about 5 hovers to every one visit.

Tell me how! Please!!!!

@Paul4747 in your settings: the top one is to turn off your own hover feature, the second one is not to see when you've been hovered.

@hankster I've been all over the settings menu and I can't find it. Freakin' driving me nuts.

@hankster Crap, I just found it. It's the "mini-profile" setting. I was looking for the actual word "hover".

There is a hover option on here? I have never seen this. But access on phone so I guess I am missing out. But viewing someone's profile should not be read into more than what it actually is. Just learning more about fellow members.

It floors me when people -- usually men -- lament "Why are all these dudes checking me out?!?!" 98% of them likely are NOT checking the person out. I liken it to just noticing the new person at the BBQ.

I don't mind, I hover sometimes, mostly for location, or age.

Me too.. Sometimes the profile won’t go away!’s why I ‘reduced mine.’

Varn Level 8 July 23, 2018

No problem with hovering or visiting. Nice to get to know people better here... smile001.gif

Exactly. Also if I find someone interesting, man or woman, I follow them. Doesn't mean I want to sleep with them.

Hover all you want. I hover all I want. Hover is a quick & easy way to see if some one is in the Uk or down the road a piece. If they are for community or looking for me. Yoo hoo. Here I am.

Mooolah Level 8 July 23, 2018

@Akfishlady Women are not creepy. & who cares what a stranger thinks. You got the T shirt. That is all that matters.

I was recently wondering what hovered meant-thanks for the post! I always use my phone on this site, maybe I’ll use a laptop-never hovered before!?

I can't hover. I just visit.

I love to hover ??

Yanya Level 7 July 24, 2018

I like the "hover" capability, as it's a quick way to learn (or remember) who someone is, before I reply to a post, so I don't need to "visit" their complete profile. But I don't like having all the "hovers" listed in my "recent visitors" list. I didn't realize (until now) that I can change my settings to not show the hovers. Yay! Thanks for tip!

My right thumb is in a huge cast right now, I accidentally click on people every time I login

"My own theory is that for creatures from another solar system 'hovering' may be a socially acceptable mode of relating. It may, indeed, be pleasurable. I myself once hovered over an eighteen-year-old actress for six months and had the best time of my life."

-Woody Allen, The UFO Menace

Paul4747 Level 8 July 24, 2018

Eh, I'm probably looking at your pics. Again.

I’m not even sure what triggers “hovered” status. Who know who I’ve hovered over?

When you are on a laptop (usually, as far as I know), if you move your mouse to somebody's profile picture or name, a little box appears with quick info - where they are, age, whether they are here for community or dating. Then you move your mouse away and carry on.
That shows as "hovered" in the person's "Who visited me."

If you actually click on their picture or name, you will go to their full profile page. That shows as "viewed."

@BlueWave thanks for the info!

It’s not creepy at all lol. You can hover on my profile ?

PaulD Level 5 July 23, 2018

...that’s actually given me some concern ..the guys profiles it must appear I’m ‘checking out’ (not) smile009.gif

@Varn I’d take it as flattery if someone checked me out rotfl

Oh you can stalk me or accidentally hover my profile all you want !!! Always welcomed, make yourself at home please ???

IamNobody Level 8 July 24, 2018

What's hovering? I want to hover over everything.

Riviks Level 4 July 23, 2018

When you mouse over a persons profile name and a shot version of their profile pops up. That's a hover.

sadly..both. #cancer

MissaDixon Level 7 July 23, 2018

I use a tablet, don't even have a "computer." Apparently hovering doesn't show on tablets.

Condor5 Level 8 July 23, 2018

How about "peaking"?

I'm usually curious when someone posts an interesting comment. @AMGT
