Transporting, setting up and managing inflatable bounce houses. The worst part is still the customers, but the bosses suck too.

Paid by the bucketful, I picked blueberries for a short time. Big props to those that work the fields to put food on our tables!!!

Probably driving the taxi. We were the only company in town and we provided 24/7 service. We worked from 8am to 8pm or 8pm to 8am. I did that for a year and a half. By the time I quit driving I hated everybody, young, old, male, female, brown, black, white. I was an equal opportunity hater.

One morning after a particularly crazy night, one of my bosses said "don't think of it as a job, think of it as an adventure." I told him if I wanted adventure I would have joined the fucking navy.

I didn't even apply for the taxi driving job either. I worked for one of the owners at a bar and he sold the bar and started the cab company with a partner. I got two unemployment checks when my old boss calls and asks me what I'm doing. Ummm, nothing. And I told him I didn't really want to drive the taxi but he said "I know where you get your unemployment from, see ya monday."

Fine.

I had a brief stint as a temp in the office of a paint factory some years back. How brief? Not even half a day. The chemical smell even in the office was so awful that I couldn't stand it. Left there with a horrible headache and the chemical smell permeating my clothes and handbag - in fact, I had to toss out the handbag because I couldn't get the smell out. And I can still recall that smell all these years later. And believe it or not the temp agency was pissed at me for wanting to leave.

Taxi driver for 25 years. Long unsociable hours, abusive drunks, crap money. Never again!

Ouch! Where at?

@Sirena Liverpool UK. I regularly stormed out mid shift, couldn't take the stress any more, but went back the next day as I needed to pay the bills.

@Salo haven't been to the UK yet.. maybe one day. I'm guessing drunks were an issue though

@Sirena you must, the comparative absence of religion must be great for an American. I've asked one or two, but they usually act offended! Drunks can be an issue anywhere. Being in a taxi brings out the worst in them. Been beat up a fair few times, plenty refusing to pay on the grounds of 'I don't feel like it' or 'how you gonna make me. Cleaned up too much sick for my liking, that leaves you off work no wages for the day while it dries out, plus the valeting fee.

@Salo I am hoping I have an escape there...future plans for sure.

Dish washing when I was 16. I worked that job for 2 days and quit. I felt sick both days after my shift. Never worked that sort of job again.

Midnight movie projectionist. Got really tired of chipping puke, soda, popcorn, and whatever off the floor after the showing.

Selling solar door to door. But surprisingly, I was fairly good at it. Then burned out fast.

Working as a waitress at a breakfast franchise in 1972. The tables were filled with people ordering food together then demanding separate bills for various people. I switched to being a waitress at a pizza place and got much better tips, without the hassle.

In those days, younger women didn't wear bras, so I learned not to hurry too much or I had the full attention of all the men in the place.

Collections for an insurance company. Was horrible

Yeah, I did insurance for quite a while. No fun.
